I did call. It wouldn't have been too big of a deal (besides the fact the babies died

) if I wouldn't have spent close to a hunred dollars and half the order die off for no reason. I dunno. I'll call them back again tomorrow and talk to them about it.

I am sorry, honey, but chicks do die for no reason very early in life. There isn't much we can do about it. They can very easily die within tthe first 10 days after hatch and it is nothing we can see that caused them to die. It is something wrong with them inside.

It is a very sad reality to raising chicks and chickens.

I am sitting here looking at your post wondering which is worse, the fact you thought the post was about a chicken's bum, or the fact that you opened it to see!!!

That happened to a friend of mine ~
She ordered 50 chicks from McMurray and 12 died from her bunch. She was devastated...

I ordered 11 from My Pet Chicken and haven't lost a one... but others have so hmmm,

I'm very sorry~

I agree completely with Miss Prissy on this issue, afterall they are chickens and in the "wild" chick survival is abyssmally low compared to even your tragedy of losing 10 from 25.

Well common now, would it surprise you if someone posted a picture of a bum end to see what "all those crawly things are" (meaning mites/lice etc). Wouldn't surprise me in the least! Or, my hens bum is all dirty, what's going on etc etc etc

We're hardly shy about discussing such things

I don't think I will ever order from a hatchery-to many things can go wrong, even to the post office screwing things up. I would buy from a feed store-at least then they survived shipping. The best bet is to raise your own, or buy fertile eggs and put them in an incubator. It is hard to loose animals and losing 15 chicks can be upsetting. We can say these things can happen but that doesn't help the person that has lost them-fianancial or personal. Did McMurray replace or refund your money?

I am sorry you lost so many. Like Miss Prissy says so well, it happens sometimes and it is hard to see and there is nothing you can do about it.
