Firestar stirred in his sleep. Rolling over he realized Shadowfire was not in the nest. His mind whirled. There was only one place she could be. Leaping out of the warm pile pf leaves Firestar ran down into the back of the den. When he arrived Nightpaw was kneeling over Shadowfires gray body as she panted and winced uncontrollably. " Nightpaw! Go get Cinderpelt!! NOW!!" Firestar yowled
 
Nightpaw ran through the camp searching for her. When she found her, she said "Come quick! Shadowfire's kitting!" she ran back to the nursery (which is where Shadowfire should be) with Cinderpelt following behind.
 
Shadowfire lay in the Nursery panting and pushing. Her eyes wide. "Firestar....Cinderpelt.....Nightpaw...."she whimpered.

Firestar sat nearby nervously watching as Nightpaw and Cinderpelt went to work. Minutes passed though they felt like hours. Firestar heard a noise in a different section of the den. Quickly running to see what was wrong he bumped into jaypaw. "Hey! Go back to Bed!" He meowed frustratingly. When he returned to the nursery he was surprised by Nightpaws glowing face as she ran to meet him halfway.
 
"What?" he yowled anxiously. Cinderpelt came out behind Nightpaw. "Go see for yourself!" Cinderpelt whispered smiling. Firestar rushed past the black and white old cat and bee-lined for the nursery. "Shadowfire!Shadowfire!" he called loudly. As Firestar entered the nursery his golden\green eyes landed on one of the most happiest sights a Cat would ever want to see. There lay Shadowfire..her gray fur shimmered in the pale moonlit room. Cuddled in the warm curve of her body were two kittens. One was Black as coal and the other was so white that her fur seemed to glow. "What shall we name them?" He pondered aloud.

"Let's call the white one Snowkit and the little boy Nightkit." she purred. She scooted them closer to her belly.

"I like their names." Firestar whispered as he curled up next to shadowfire.
