~Warriors RP II~

Quote: Shadowpelt glanced around. Mouse dung... I hope she didn't see me look at her... I wasn't doing anything wrong! He thought, and tried to look confident by lifting his tail.

Sagestar padded through the dry grass and jumped over the bracken barrier. Lionkit and Dustkit weaved through the returning warrior's paws, nearly tripping them. They were full of questions.
It was only a little after the Clan had arrived, before Maplestar returned. She called Silverstripe into her den.

Specklefur purred. "Lionkit, Dustkit, come on. You have a big day tomorrow," she winked, referring to their apprentice ceremony.
Shadowpelt was crouched, sharing a mouse with Dovewing. He watched Silverstripe go, and felt his appetite slip away. Dovewing noticed. "You alright?" "I'm fine." Shadowpelt snapped quickly.

Lionkit and Dustkit bounded along with their mother. "What did Maplestar say?" Dustkit asked, turning so he was moving backwards towards the nursery.
Nettlepelt, Silverstripe's former apprentice, eyed him strangely as she walked past.

"She said that WindClan and ThunderClan can barely survive leaf-bare." She flicked her tail to mask her anger at the ShadowClan leader's remark. "She doesn't know what she's talking about." She then blinked as she realized something. I look kind of like her. She brushed it off as she went to get some fresh-kill for her kits. It hit her that this was their last night in the nursery.
Dovewing glanced at Nettlepelt as she walked away. "Alright, alright.. I was just asking." she bit into the mouse again.

"That mange-pelt!" Dustkit hissed, arching his back and putting his tail in the air. "Somebody oughta claw her nose!" he mrowed.
Nettlepelt shared a squirrel with Silverstripe when the silver tabby came back out. Nettlepelt murmured something to Silverstripe while eyeing Shadowpelt, and Silverstripe rolled her eyes, mewing something that obviously wasn't very nice in response. Nettlepelt shook her head as she mewed a reply, moving on to another subject.

Specklefur purred. "We'll do that soon. Now off to bed!" She nudged them towards the nursery. "We don't want to sleep through our own ceremony." Dawnkit and Shadowkit practically flew into their nests. :p
Shadowpelt swallowed one more bite of mouse, and then without saying a word, padded out into the forest. He headed down to a small pool, and laid down, slashing his tail in thought.

(I would too! lol)
Dustkit and Lionkit pelted after them, and settled down into their mother's nest. "I wonder what my name will be..." Dustkit wondered. "Dustpaw silly!" Lionkit answered. "Oh yeah," Dustkit giggled excitedly. "I forgot."
Nettlepelt looked like she was going to go after him, but Silverstripe put her tail out in front before she did. "Leave him. If ShadowClan means anything to him he'll come back." She then began padding to the warriors' den.

"But-"

"Just don't, Nettlepelt." Silverstripe didn't even bother to look back. She curled up in her den, going to sleep.

(What if, one of the kits were being trained by a dark forest warrior? :hmm twist lol)

The next morning, Dawnkit awoke to the early rays of dawn shining into the nursery. "What's today?" she slurred. She knew that something important was happening today... but what? She shot to her paws as she remembered. "IT'S OUR APPRENTICE CEREMONY!" she yowled at the top of her lungs, awakening Shadowkit and Specklefur.

Shadowpelt began to feel anger rising in his pelt. He flew into a rage, turning and scoring his claws down a thick tree, snarling angrily. His eyes burned with fury and for one brief moment he looked as if he was about to charge across the border to Riverclan, but almost as quick as his anger came, it vanished. He fell into a sobbing black heap on the ground.

(Ooo!! I just finished that book! YES!)

Dustkit screeched, being awakened suddenly. Lionkit sprang to his paws and bounced around excitedly. "YAY!"

Hours later, Shadowpelt trudged back into camp. It was dark, but the sun was slowly rising. He carried two voles in his mouth and set them down on the fresh-kill pile. Then he slipped past Silverstripe, and settled into his nest which happened to be beside her's. His breathing was soft and came in short gasps.

(I know. I had a hard time reading some of it. :( )

Lionkit trotted out with his chest out and tail high. Dustkit wore a large smirk as he followed.

Silverstripe awoke, feeling a pelt brush against hers. Bewildered, she wondered if he had fallen ill. She began to pad out of the den, her eyes darkening a bit. "Did he slink off to see her again?" she growled to herself; since the Gathering, every cat who'd attended had a bit of each Clan's scent, so she couldn't tell by scent if he had.

Dawnkit stamped her paws impatiently. "Why aren't Mapleshade and Sagestar up yet? We want to be apprentices!"

Dovewing stretched and padded out of the elder den. She hurried toward Silverstripe. "Hey, I didn't get to ask anyone last night, how'd the gathering go?" she meowed. She wasn't too old, but she wasn't young enough to go to gatherings anymore.

Dustkit and Lionkit stared hopefully up at the leader's den. Sagestar and a patrol entered the clearing.

Dawnkit stamped her paws impatiently. "Why aren't Mapleshade and Sagestar up yet? We want to be apprentices!"
Shadowpelt drifted into a fitful sleep.

"There was nearly a fight. ThunderClan and WindClan think they're so big." Silverstripe flicked her tail, not at Dovewing, but at the thought of Sorrelstar and Sagestar.

Dawnkit and Shadowkit's eyes gleamed with excitement. Dawnkit began to charge over to them, but Specklefur's teeth caught her tail. "No."

Dawnkit frowned, sighing with resignation. "Alright mom."

"YAY!"
Though Silverstripe didn't know what was happening, she muttered to herself, "now you know how I felt, Shadowpelt," before dozing away.

(Crookedstar's Promise is such a sad book :( )

Dawnkit raced out, followed by Shadowkit. They raced around in circles expectantly.
(I'm just gonna time skip here..)

Sagestar shot Specklefur and the kits an amused glance and chuckled. Lionkit and Dustkit grinned.

Later in the day, Maplestar led a patrol with Shadowpelt on it.

Dawnkit and Shadowkit grinned from ear to ear. "I want Thistleclaw to be my mentor!" Dawnkit mewed to her brothers.

"I want Specklefur to be mine!" Shadowkit exclaimed.

Dawnkit batted Shadowkit on the head gently. "Silly, mothers can't mentor their own kits!"

"Aww. Then I want Sagestar to be my mentor!"

"Leaders can't be mentors either!"
