"What?!" Shadowpelt lashed his tail furiously. He sniffed the bones. The scent of a young cat, an apprentice, reached his nose. "Silverpaw. Scent the bones deeply. Tell me what you smell."

Silverstream smiled back. Shadowkit hissed, swiping at Hailkit with a small paw.

Silverpaw sniffed deeply. "It's... Owlpaw!" She exclaimed. "I met her at the Gathering last night. She seemed really scared when Maplestar said something about killing the culprit."

Hailkit let out a screech.

Troutfur straightened, puffing out his chest. He looked proud, watching the pretty she-cat come towards him. Dipping his head, he waited for her to speak.

"Hi," she mewed.

Silverpaw sniffed deeply. "It's... Owlpaw!" She exclaimed. "I met her at the Gathering last night. She seemed really scared when Maplestar said something about killing the culprit."

Hailkit let out a screech.

Shadowpelt nodded grimly, his face hardening. "We need to tell Maplestar."

Shadowkit tumbled backwards, growling. He showed his tiny teeth, just barely showing past his gums.

Troutfur dipped his head. "I'm Troutfur, warrior of Riverclan. And you are?"

Troutfur nodded. "Do you wish to speak to me?"

Shadowpelt entered camp, and headed for Maplestar's den. He motioned for Silverpaw to speak.

Shadowkit batted at his friend's ear, growling and spitting.

"We found out who the WindClan cat stealing prey is," Silverpaw meowed. Maplestar's ears lifted, listening closely as Silverpaw explained.

"We need to go to WindClan," Maplestar meowed after Silverpaw was finished. "We can't put up with this a moon longer."


Hailkit pounced at his tail, hissing.

Troutfur nodded. "Do you wish to speak to me?"

"Yes," Specklefur blurted out. She blinked, not understanding why she wanted to be with this cat so much.
