Hailkit sulked for a minute, before lunging at Shadowkit with a roar. Cloudbreeze shook her head.

Maplestar put her tail on his shoulders comfortingly for a second, before wrapping it around her paws. "I know you've been seeing her, Shadowpelt. I've known for a while now," she meowed quietly. "You don't need to fear, I won't stop you from seeing her."

Shadowpelt stared, horrified, at Maplestar. His body trembled, before he yanked his gaze away and stared at the floor. Shrugging in defeat, he shook his head. There was nothing he could say. Thanking Maplestar would sound like he didn't care; smiling and jumping for joy would make it seem like he was choosing Silverstream over Shadowclan and Maplestar. "M-Maplestar," He gulped, dipping his head. "I-I do not know if she has kitted or not." His ears drooped. "I didn't even know she was pregnant."

Hailkit gave an ear piercing screech.

Maplestar nodded slowly. "You don't need to be afraid," she mewed. "I know that your loyalty lies with ShadowClan, and as long as you are, I won't stop you." A note of sadness and grief was in her voice; her eyes weren't focused on Shadowpelt, but on the horizon, towards WindClan.
