Wart-like growth on chicken

I wasn't able to take a picture, but my Easter Egger has a kind of wart thing on her back. It looks just like her skin with the same color and does not look scaly or infected. It is located on her back just above her tail feathers with no feather loss around it. It is maybe about an eighth or quarter of an inch long by maybe a sixteenth or an eighth wide and is hard but not rock-hard to the touch. I haven't been able to find anything like this anywhere. Is this some kind of injury or sickness or just something I never noticed that is normal? She is about 1.5 years old now and only occasionally pecks at it as if to scratch it. The other chickens don't peck at it.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it!

Yeah that's kind of what it looks like! I don't want to cut it or dig around in it because it looks like her skin and I feel like I might do more damage that way!

I've been looking for an answer to find what is on my chicken...

sounds like it may be about the same. I can't find anything out there either :( one of the ducks keeps pecking at her though.

Welcome to BYC. Is that a cyst-like area on the back of the head, or is it a spot where the others have pecked her? Did she have a Mareks vaccine? Chickens can develop cysts or tumor on all parts of the body, especially with Mareks disease.

No she hasn't been vaccinated. And I'm guessing she's on the bottom of the pecking order because one of the ducks that gets pushed around pushes her around constantly. She's the smaller of two hens with a pair of Peking ducks and a crested. The crested duck is the one who is pecking at her and being mean. It kind of just appeared though on the back of the hens neck and I was concerned.
