This is a pic of my roos legs. You can see a white looking part in his hock, it is still fuzzing from the peroxide. This is actually black, like a nasty scab, it doesn't smell necrotic. He did not have a typical bumble, but we did pull out a piece of wood, which I suspect introduced the infection. We cleaned his legs, and the place with the splinter out with peroxide, and I put baby powder on his legs so that when he roosts tonight he will be dry. Of course I got home from town and we couldn't find the neosporin. I think I will alternate the two (neosporin and powder) and see how it goes? We also gave him a shot of Penn G. Any thoughts??

my dark brahma roo got hocks looking like that when my filly got him cornered behind the water barrel and gnawed on his hocks really bad. I used Vetericyn and it completely fixed it all back up in just a few days.

Ouch..poor guy! Could you have rats in the coop?
They will sometimes chew on the chickens at night.

We don't have rats here I don't think? He is the only one like this, I have about 30 other birds, including a banty hen brooding outside on the ground. Looks terrible doesn't it?
