So I was given a flock of 2 hens, 1 rooster and 4 diddles. Unfortunantly I do not know anything about them to tell if they have been laying, are too old to lay or what have you..So my question is how long before I should expect an egg or expect something is wrong. It has been days and still no eggs. I know stress can be a factor in moving them so I am sure I am over reacting or not.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

sorry diddles are just a name for chicks here.

here is a pic of the hens.Ones comb is smaller than the other and the one with larger comb is darker red. I believe I have read that this is a sign of maturity and layingness

Sorry I don'

t seem to have a pic of the other hen but can post one tomorrow. Here is a rooster shot though. He has had some issues with this rear and had some cloggage I had to get out. Not fun!

Beautiful! They look like they may have very nice type (quality birds) but I am not an expert. All I know is that they look much better than my Buff Orpingtons that came from the feed store. Give them a week or two, they may just need to settle in.

They all seem to be healthy but with not knowing their history it has made it a little stressful making sure they continue to be healthy. With all the illness I have read about I am afraid im going to kill my whole flock lol
