Was I given one mystery breed chick instead of BLRW?

Hi all!

I have a handful+ of 3 week old chicks. Two of which were supposed to be blue laced red Wyandottes but they are now looking pretty different from each other. One has that blue coloring coming in and no barring on her feathers. The other has barring on her feathers and no blue coming in. They look similar in the face and comb type (not yet developed) but way different feathering. I’m wondering if I got something other than a BLRW.

Any thoughts? I attached a few photos and labled them #1 chick and #2 chick.

Chick 1 looks like a Gold Laced Wyandotte. Chick 2 might be Blue Laced Gold or just another GLW.

Agreed. It could also be blue laced gold which can be found in BLR hatchery stock, but for now it looks like a GLW in my eyes

I actually had a similar thing happen to me this spring- ordered 2 BLRW and wound up with 2 GLBW. Those look exactly like mine… who are both definitely Gold Laced Blacks

I started looking into all the different colorations and this makes perfect sense! Thank you. I have two silver laced adult hens and those were much easier to identify.

Now I’m just really hoping these are olive eggers as labeled I really wanted to add some olive eggs.

I believe a see a tiny crest meaning an OE!
