Was the chicken egg fertile or infertile?

Hello,

Today i went to buy some eggs in the grocery store.
It said free range.I carkced one to fy it and say like a white stringy thing but it wasnt thin it was bit thick.What could it be?

All eggs have that white "stringy" thing..it supports the yolk in the middle of the egg. If an egg is fertile..it will have a sort of "bull's eye" mark on the yolk.

That is the chalaza and holds the egg yolk in the center of the egg.
