Wash or not wash? Dirty eggs?

Washing the eggs washes off the protective coating and makes it easy for bacteria

to enter the egg. By washing you can actually push bacteria through the pores of the

egg. Avoid dirty eggss completely. If they are slightly dirty - they're OK. But severly dirty

eggs are not. If you must clean the egg, avoid water and any liquid cleaner. Use a dry

sponge, and GENTLY scrape off dried dirt for 'crusty' eggs. owever, in your situation, it sounds

like the shell of that egg may be cracked, or somone cracked another egg in the same nestbox that

the one you have was in.
