Washing eggs

2 years of not washing eggs and all is well. I only wash by hand with cold water if they have too much "debris" on them. If I washed them I try to eat those first since the unwashed eggs still have protective film. Also here is a humorous photo of eggs from my pullets. Quite a range of sizes.

I am buying duck eggs from someone who doesn’t wash... so I am storing in a covered container in the refrigerator and then rinsing before I use. But some stuff is so dried and stuck on it’s really hard to get off. Just not sure if I should wash before refrigerating re the bloom thing. Any help??

Most likely you will use the eggs pretty quickly so they won't be sitting in the fridge for long. I wash my dirty eggs and into the fridge they go and I eat them fairly quick. Most morning I have a couple of eggs for breakfast.

I rarely need to wash mine. Usually when it's been raining heavily or snow melt making the run a little muddy. I only use lukewarm water, no soap then refrigerate immediately. Any eggs that are a little "poopy" will get washed and fed back to the girls. Scrambled of course.
