Washing goose eggs... Yes AGAIN!!!

I guess I can put them in my Brinsea eco 20 by themselves... but should I wash them first or put them in as is???? I need something I can get today to clean them with so I can put them in asap... so bleach, Dawn, iodine, something else??? Or leave them like they are??? Also if they do well and develope by themselves could I transfer them to the bigger incubator that has the clean eggs when they are well developed, like on day 14???? Thanks

I have one I set on the 18th that I washed in warm water because it was pretty dirty like shellyd said. It's developing just like the rest. Yours look like they would come clean pretty easy. Mud is easier to clean then poop.

It has been very muddy here. My eggs look gross. I have candled them since I have washed them. Everything looks good and due to hatch on Monday. I have been using 100 to 110 degree water with a antibacterial dish soap and a scrub brush under running water. Air Dry. Water always should be warmer than the egg. You should always wash as soon after they are laid. Then you can store the eggs at 55 to 65 degrees in a plastic bag or set them after they rest at room temperature for 6 hours. I have even used a little bleach water on badly stained egg with good results. You will have to increase your humidity by 5 to 10 percent to allow for the increased dehydration due to washing the protective film off the eggs.

So far I wash for eating and giving away, and blowing. I bring in and put in warm soapy water for a while to soak, then I use a vegetable or "nail"brush and scrub lightly under warm running water, then if still stained I spray with a 4-1 bleach solution on dish drainer, shortly after I spray warm water with my sink sprayer. ---- I just read you could then rub with a bit of cooking oil or olive oil to give a 'bloom' and protect the moisture in the egg....... I read cold water makes the egg draw in.....

Well I did it.... I washed the ones that were real bad in very warm water and a tiny bit of bleach... I put very warm water in a medium sized pot and about a tsp to a tablsp of bleach... I gently wiped the mud off and made new water for each egg. I marked them, and will let everyone know if they do anything in the bator... Someone mentioned putting vegi oil on them to give them a bloom back??? Do you guys think this will work or potentialy do more harm than good???

I would research putting oil on the eggs.

It is a method used to ADDLE wild goose eggs in order to prevent hatching. I don't know much about it really, but I would NOT oil eggs you want to hatch without researching it thoroughly. I think the intent is to block the pores so the egg cannot exchange gas at all?
