Gorgeous job knitting!

I had 30 people at our place on Saturday, the most glorious day in the entire last 6 months- to share my son's love of whales and celebrate his birthday with a whale fundraiser for the Sea Sheperd and Orca network. He asked people to bring $ for those 2 organizations instead of birthday gifts. The party was great- was was in heaven from all of the kids here. We think he found a wonderful new friend too!

how long does it take for a hen's diet to affect her egg quality? i just got my first soft shell egg today, it scared the heck out of me. I went to pick it up and my finger went through it. My RIR just started laying again this week after molting, and her eggs have been normal so far, but today's was soft. My MIL has been here since March 1 and has taken over mothering the chickens. She likes to treat her pets too much (their pets are always overweight!ugh!) She gets up early and let the hens out and gave them a plate of people food every day. I'm wondering if this is the cause? My hens eggs have always been extremely hard and hard to crack sometimes, even.
MIL left yesterday so they are back on a normal diet. hopefully that will help.
