Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

CL perhaps for the newbee's ya could explain what HACKLE is?? Hey are ya coming to Vancouver?
No, but I can explain...
Here is a wee tutorial:
Hackle is only on MALES and it is LONG skinny feathers that are usually GORGEOUS and shiney....
See here:

You will notice on Milton's back, the long straight feathers, and also all around his neck

here is a good pic of my main man Java Cock, take note of the LONG skinny feathers off his neck (CAPE) and saddle (pretend he is a horse...see the flowing LONG feathers off his back ??)
Here is a Java hen for comparison :

The female is covered with feathers, but the male, has hackle.

Please note::::::::::::::::: when the bird is but a week or 2 old, you will not see hackle emerging, but about 3-6 weeks yopu will see small spikes of skinny feathers coming out in the places I told you...neck cape & saddle.

They are funny, huh ?
Did you ever hear about my hen back when I was in my 20s (a hundred years ago) that would ONLY lay in my washing machine, which was on the back porch...and she got really vocal and raging mad & SCREAMED in the back screen door if the washer lid was down~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I had to be vigilant as to not put clothes in the washer without checking for her, or her egg~~~~~~~~~~

I have sufficiently terrorized all the babies with the flash....................and just butchered 12 Cornish X....am going down & watching TV with Einstein ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

About how long should I wait before giving Lucy a chick again? I don't want her hatching eggs or waiting 3 weeks. Last time (10 weeks ago!!

) she was broody for 4.5 weeks and got terribly thin and unhealthy looking. She's sleeping in the nest box for the 2nd night right now and definitely broody, never left the box today silly girl! So, how long? This weekend long enough? Saturday? That's 4 days...
