Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hi,

Im moving back to Seattle area the first of March (been away a very long time). I'm looking to rent a house in the north end (Everett or there abouts) and am wondering what the rules are for chickens. I have to place the gals I have now :( but plan to be up to incubating within a couple of months of moving in.

Any suggestions of where to live would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Barb

Cant speak for King County as last I heard no more then 8 hens on less then 5acre lot. I know Pierce County just bumped it up to allowing 12. Still no roos though. There is a thread on the rules for the area but I will save you the trouble. here is a good link for you to check out.

Welcome!

Thanks and thanks for posting the link. Now I can legally have 3 so 6 to 8 would be great. No roos here either so used to that. But I would like to get a roo so hopefully I can find a place that will allow me to have one.

LOL it's nice to have somewhere that I fit in. I am legally allowed 10 poultry (tacoma) but currently have 6 ducks i think, and 6 chickens and ordered chicks. :D
Yesterday my neighbor asked if I got rid of some of the chickens because he hasn't heard them as much as he use to.

I am getting so excited waiting for my chicks to come in the mail. Tomorrow or monday i'm going to set up a great dane sized plastic dog crate, buy some sand to put in the bottom of it, find and bleach the water and food dishes. get the light going and make sure it's adjusted to the right height to keep a good temp of 95-98 degrees right under the bulb.
I've never owned "top hat" chickens and am really excited to have ordered 6 straight run top hat chicks then i ordered their heavy assortment i can't even remember how many of them.
My parents live in tenino and wanted i think 20? chickens. So all the assortment and all but 1 or 2 top hat chickens that are hens will go to them.

Good luck! I have terrible luck with straight run. Last time I got straight run was when we bought our Gallus Gallus and out of 8 only 3 were female.

when we first started early Summer 2013, we bought 6 guaranteed Pullets ..... 5 of which were proven Cockerels.

Sounds like you need to stop buying from whoever is making the gurantees! I dont suppose you bought them from a guy on the street corner who had them strapped to the inner lining of his coat, or a politician eh?

i only got a few of the straight run the rest are ordered as pullets. So hopefully lots of females plus my mom wants a new rooster that is unrelated to her females.
