Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

My DD and I and BF have been discussing getting a dog for the last couple months. Nov 3-4th they had a PetExpo at the Puyallup Fairgrounds. We have been looking at this pup online at the Grant's County Animal Shelter. Luckily they brought him along with many other dogs to the expo and we were able to spend time with him and make our decision!

We now have a new member of our family! His name is Dyson (yes just like the animal vacuum)! He IS a mini vacuum and a big bundle of loving fluff! LOL!!

He and Daffy have had an interesting time together! He is terrified of Daffy!!! We know who the pack leader is around this house!!:D

Your life will be forever changed (to the good). Just wait until the lights go on at about 11/2 - 2 years.

There is a million of them homeless, and every dog "pound" is full of them.
Unfortunately they are a favorite breed of "undesirables" who do not have a great deal of (class?) or money...and the animals suffer for it.
Srucon is a BYC member (lives in Oly) and rescues and trains pit bulls.
She has rescued quite a few from pit fighting homes.
She has much bigger b**ls, than I !!!!
I'll tell ya what, her dogs MIND her !
My sister rescued a a pit bull. She's really a sweet dog.

That's what they are doing - except that they fly to get away from each other. Blackie hit the top screen pretty hard today and took a tumble. 2nd time I've seen him do that - scares the living daylights out-a me to see it happen. I also get worried they're going to peck each others eye out - they get pretty close to it when they stare each other down.

This has been a new experience for us ... our 6 month old girls don't even fly as high as these boys (with exception of Rhodie).

Wait, I thought you were pretty sure 2 were pullets and questioned on the other 2? Now I am confused(not hard to do BTW). My three 7 week olds are positioning for pecking order like you are describing. I KNOW one is a pullet(sex-link) and the 2 EE's are not showing any signs of being cockerels(pale combs with one, not three rows on the pea comb, thin legs like the sex-link)

I suspected that Cocoa and Rocha were boys from the day they hatched. Now that Blackie has a 3-row pea comb, and Latte has black shoulders and a black tail coming in with the orange-y brown wings, I'm pretty sure both of them are boys, too. If color-sexing doesn't come into play with mixed breeds, Latte (the tiny one) is the only one that might be a pullet, except that he's so feathering in so slow and has just as big of an attitude and has no fear just like the other 3. Even though he's so tiny, he'll stretch his neck as high as he can, chest bump and jump into the others. He has no fear taking on Cocoa, the biggest one, either.

Renee - Martha, Thelma, Louise, and Willow all have 3 rows on their comb...and they all lay fabulous eggs. Despite what "experts" here might say, 3 rows on the comb of a cross breed chicken is NOT a tell of gender. Hope to ease some concern!

What part of Seattle are you in? North? South? The kids have the day off school next Monday, and I could take them on a field trip to the Museum of Flight. Plus, DH and I have been talking about sneaking off while the kids are in school and going to the King Tut Exhibit at some point (can't afford to take the kids, too. Bummer). I'm not sure when we plan to do that, though.
Is there any chance you would be willing to take me? I can pay for parking, and my ticket. I really want to see the King Tut exhibit before it's too late. I can't guarantee how fast I can walk through the exhibit, but I am stubborn and I will make it sooner or later. lol
