Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Thanks
Graham is not really that far. wouldn't really want to go farther but no one in the are seems to have any right now so we have a major :rant  going on LOL

I've moved my rooster out from the EEs earlier this week and I can't be sure of fertility or I'd offer eggs.

Hey guys,

I live in tacoma and i am looking for mixed color eggs to hatch. My 4 yr old is excited to hatch his own "birdies". we used to have a nice mix of breeds a few years back but a large lab decided to break in and create a scene from criminal minds, since i have not had chickens. now we are set up more secure and ready to start over.
Is there anyone close that might have any mix?

I might have some Barnevelder eggs for you if you want to meet in Puyallup Sunday. I'll be at the show but if you let me know ahead of time I could bring half a dozen or so...It's a crazy weekend for me and I won't be there tomorrow but Sunday I'll be there in the morning and again in the evening to coop out my chickens from the show...

We have narrowed it down to a raccoon, got a live trap set that i hope works! Added to existing coop so my whole mess of ducks will fit in. Then of course they all want to fight LOL so had to go in a push momma an the babies into their own area so they would behave. I have two banties left an they are close friends with my injured duck so he was beating up an biting whoever came close to them LOL it was chaos but got them all sanctioned lol an hopefully safe for another night. Was so relieved when i didn't loose any last night :)

I just came across this while doing some "chicken reading". Thought it maybe helpful to you and Millie. http://naturalchickenkeeping.blogspot.com/2014/02/BrokenLeg.html#more

Thank you! Very helpful. I did end up keeping her confined in the small box where I had put her immediately after the accident. It's been two days and I'm happy to report she is doing well :) Eating and drinking like a little piggy, limping around, energetic, not calling out in pain. She greets me whenever I visit her as if to say, "Can I go home today?" I think she's lonely but I'm confident she will recover. I believe that her middle toe (I'm sure that isn't the technical term :) ) got bent way beyond its normal range rather than having a broken leg, as I originally suspected. Sort of folded up like if you forced your hand to bend backwards and touch your arm. I feel awful for her but I'm glad it wasn't as bad as I thought at first. These are my first chicks and I'm attached enough that I'd definitely cry if I lost her :( If she declines I will have a vet see her.

Can anyone tell me what is eating my seedling squash leaves and how to stop it? CL this is a sweet meat.
Thanks!

Looks like bird damage to me. Song birds LOVE anything in the squash and melon family. We always put up netting for the first month or until the plant is large (and therefor) tough enough that the birds don't find it appealing anymore. They're pretty hardy, though. On the bright side we've had butternut starts eaten down to the nubs that still make a comeback and give big harvests.

Well, that would explain the very clean V shapes. I'll see if I can cover them with something. Glad to hear they might be hearty enough to come back well, too. Thanks!

I'm asking around for you. You said a "mix". Does that mean barnyard mixed breeds or a variety of breeds? Is Olympia too far for you to drive?

Olympia is ok about half hour or so.......
When I say Mix I am not to particular on the Breed I love them All I would love a "Mix Of color Egg"

Blue - blue/green - brown - dark brown - White

My 4 year old has "hatched" many imaginary animals so I am wanting to give him the "REAL" opportunity to hatch eggs. We have a Bator all set up, monitoring the heat and humidity so i know it will work, just need some eggies to put in it.

We are looking to start a flock as pets and eggs. My lil man Loves animals and helped me set up the coop and run for them.

Thank you for any and all help
Karen
