Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I did get the heritage deleware eggs in the mail today.. got them resting before I set them.. if any luck I'll have purebred delewares from good stock..not hatchery. I'll like build second coop for them

I haven't worked my courage up to hatching shipped eggs yet so please keep us posted on how this hatch goes. Good luck!

Just curious where you got the barney eggs, anyone local?

I got mine as chicks early this year. The eggs I'm working with are my own, one of my aracauna roos really likes the barneys so I'm hoping for something interesting. However, I think I can locate info for a local gal that does double laced Barnevelders for show. It will take me a bit, but I'll ask next time I'm in town.

This will be my first attempt at shipped eggs.. there all appear good shape.. arrived a day early. I hope I'm off to a good start.. they came from eight acres farm in Florida. . That has to be 3000 miles..

Ya. Sometimes ya get what you don't expect. .
I like hybrids. Mine are young now .hatched from the old hens..I got rid of the oldhens.it will be interesting come spring to see what they do..
My brother has over 100 chickens..most crosses.. his eggs are huge can't even close the carton. .
I suspect it's due to the hybrid vigor..

A couple of my mixes...
400

Salmon Faverolle x Partridge Rock

400

Buff Orpington x Speckled Susex

That looks like fine ventilation to me. Ammonia is a gas that rises from the floor so I always like my ventilation towards the top.
Thanks you guys! I've been feeling awful about my coop for the last two weeks! Here we put so much time and money into it and I thought we'd mucked it all up!

Yay Washingtonians! And yes, catface, it sounds like I need a field trip to your place!
