Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Thank you I was not aware of the differences, I was suppose to have them but never happened and I bought 4 barred rocks then 2 Rhode Island reds then the what I have learned are light Brahmas as they are white still kinda young no cones as of yet but I am getting like 6 to 8 eggs daily for the older ones. I did start with all chicks. I am always happy to learn more.

Sounds like you have a nice flock. Wish mine were laying as well as yours. Chickens teach me patience!

was back out and there was 1 more there is no rhyme or reason to their timing and the brahmas are finally getting friendly

Maybe my fellow Washingtonians can help me. I am looking for 6-8 Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Ameraucana hatching eggs. I got a lovely Blue Wheaten cockerel from my neighbor around the corner @Hinotori and what do you know, I must get some matching girls for him! (chicken math strikes again

) Does anyone know where I can find some in the area this time of year?

he turned into a cutie. I hope he's respectful of people. One of his brothers that I haven't ate yet was trying to woo the pen of roosterless silkie hens into being his today. He succeeded with a few of the girls until I chased him off. I'm not sure where to get eggs or birds right now. I was going to order some spring chicks but to much has been going on so I never got the order in last fall.

I think you had offshoots of my "line" and they were absurdly mating & ripping all the "hair" off the hens' heads ?
I had BALD hens all over...bloody scalps !
I have never seen a bloodline do that before, or since, except for the Blue Wheaten...how weird !

The father is from eggs from back east if I remember right. The most likely mothers are pips&peeps line. For a bird so much larger than a silkie he was very respectful of the hens and was actually trying to woo them. The girls squatted for him before he took action. No feather pulling. I don't want any crossbreds though. The silkie cockerels in that pen are still a month or two from maturing. They are the only two boys im keeping. The rest are on the soup list.

This Boy is really easy on the girls. He was such an awkward teen I wasn't sure he was going to figure it out. The girls walked all over him for a while. He is the easiest rooster I have ever had to handle! I am quite pleased with him!
