Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I guess I was just surprised that the chickens spent so much time in the dirt when I let them out today. It was kind of funny. Tonight they all went back into the run then up in the coop and up on the roost. So they should be back to free ranging pretty quickly.

Haha.. ya and when you had to make a telephone call. .ya had to pick it up and make sure the nieghbors weren't on the line first..

We had a party line too! I think my foster mom still has a party land line even after all these years.

We don't even have a land line now because we use cell phones and WiFi. We don't have TV either because we have Netflix and Redbox.

I have major craters in the chicken run as the girls dig holes to lay and roll in
We have the prelude to summer getting allot done outside

Good morning! The weather has been amazing so far. Hope it keeps up for the rest of the season, though I wouldn't mind leaving out the few 90 days we had last year. Ouch.

Chickies successfully defended their coop against the first invader.

I guess all that food they've been inhaling provides lots of energy. I need to pick up another bag of it today. The only difference between starter and grower seems to be a percent of protein, and a little extra protein never hurt a chicken, did it?

Good girls ! I do start my pullets on "baby food" crumble... now all are big enough to have
the layer crumble... of course the favorite treat is cabbage... thankfully I have had no invaders.
Fear-ah continues to prowl the nights sleeping by her chickens and the three outside kitties.
My Mom is being transferred to a home in Yelm close to my Brother and not horribly far for us
the form of dementia is termed by the neurologist as an infection as it eats the brain turning
that to cottage cheese.. no one knows how long she has but we take it all one day at a time
knowing god will lead her home when it is time.
The weather has been beautiful so far this spring.

We picked up a mix of normal homogenous crumble and some organic starter feed that looked like a mix of grains. Chicks less than impressed with the organic stuff so far. Their first fruit treats were set out today, and they went crazy over cherries (once I cut them into pieces), but pecked and then ignored dates and raisins. Pretty snobby for creatures that sleep in their poo IMO.

Sorry about your mother. :( Alzheimer's? It's so hard on individuals and their families, to slowly lose memories.

Ya but when I was a kid I had to walk to school in 20 feet of snow. . It was uphill both ways too

20 feet of snow in Washington, had to be much before my birthday (not trying to sound rude). It's is hard to see even an inch of snow now in SW Washington.

Hi Rod-T - at least there were downhill both directions as.

Sorry ChickieLady - didn't know of your heavy lost to your flock.

Penny - I'm getting close to 26 chickens! Just rehome a hen with 16 chicks!!! With our 4 chicks and 2 silkies - I'm getting close!

Our little Rose the sex changing pullet to a rooster is start to make crowing sound. Sound a little funny -
