Well 2 or 3 is best I think
if you try to add just one of anything it is best to at least get pairsI think I'll get two of the speckled Sussex, and then one more. Either a leghorn for white eggs or a cockoo Moran for dark brown eggs. I'm leaning towards the Moran because they are harder to find.

at least same age
ya that is a area I am not real schooled on I believe either wickedchikens or junbuggena would be better to speak on thatI will either get two or three total tomorrow. I don't want to try to integrate a single chick. I don't want to try to integrate a single chick. Somebody said the marans from hatcheries, feed stores, don't really laid dark brown eggs. Does anybody have any experience with this?
EE X Leghorn X ?Given the pea comb, and the lack of wattles, I'm guessing she's a clean-faced Easter Egger.
This time of year they can up & disapear for weeks...LOL and re-appear with chicks in tow !I noticed a bird missing when I got home earlier this week. I checked everywhere but the one. Corner of my coop that I couldn't get my preggo belly. After about 4 days of assuming she was owl bait she was in the run when I got home from my OB appointment! Woohoo, I HATE losing layers, lol.
