Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

This is how weird the food thing is for me. I can't eat the french bread from Winco. Safeway french bread is just fine.

I really want a tuna fish sandwich. So since I was given some recipes for my machine, I bought some fresh flour and yeast. Tomorrow hopefully I can take care of that craving.

My DD has has seen great improvements in her tolerance levels by switching to organic. Maybe it would work for you, too.

So I woke up to find an adorable chick under one of our bloodies today!!! Her eggs were due to hatch last weekend and since she's been broody since July with various mishaps I was going to break her. I hadn't gotten around to it yet and suspected she may have a chick yesterday since she seemed to be hovering. Not sure when it hatched, maybe Friday, don't really know. I'm thrilled she gets to be a mommy and has such a cutie. Momma is a Cream Legbar and baby is 1/2 Marans 1/2 Barnevelder (blue). I don't think the other egg she has been sitting on will hatch at this point.
I have another broody with an egg due on Tuesday. She had 2 but one of the hens, hopefully not momma, broke and ate the shell, leaving the chick. Hopefully the other will hatch and then Goldie and her chick will be moved back into her regular coop and we'll have 2 chicks instead of just one.
Yay!!

ok second cup of coffee have 3 live chicks from the janoel12?
trying for 6 more all blue or green eggs where has this group gone?

I've been sick and barely sleeping. The last of the tourists are on their way out of town today, and then I might finally be able to sleep again. One guy had a train horn on his roadster. And he liked driving around at 3 am honking it.

Went to the State Fair this weekend. So many chickens! But not that many different breeds, I think (unless some already went home?). Mostly Seramas, Silkies, and Polish with a mix of other bantams/LF. I really liked the bantam Wyandottes and little Sumatras.

One of the winners was a ginormous Cochin rooster. I think its head would have come right up to my knees. Is this how big they are supposed to be in the Standard vs. hatchery cochins? Or is a general preference for larger birds when showing? Must have some giant poops! The bantam cochins also looked much larger than the other bantams (Sebrights, Modern Games, etc.)

Hi all - new coop owner here. We're in Seattle. Getting ready to get the rest of the stuff we need (feeder / waterer mostly), and then it's on to getting some birds. We'll be looking for 6-8 birds, eventually for eggs. Not sure yet where to get them (I'm not sure we want to deal with chicks).

to our goofy but fun group
here what type of bird are you looking for..
chicks can be fun as long as your prepared to raise them waiting for
them to grow up.. flip side of that if buy hens (adults over 1 year) and not pullets
(chicks less than a year)have you looked at the ordinates where you plan
to live? they can affect how many or a cockerel may be forbidden.
