That is also why why I am sitting here with my F-1 Blue I have another F-1 pullet
and 5 ee Pullets from Gena hoping to make more olive eggers
My expensive Black Ameraucana Cockerel, from shipped eggs, that was 7 months old & just beginning to mate, flew into a wall & broke his leg last week.. and of course he died unable to walk/eat/drink...
.......................................just my luck !!!!!!!
So the Splash OE, and the blue OE, and the 2 black Am pullets are left with a very young (and stupid) Silver Ameraucana cockerel..........................
BUT I gathered all the eggs from the 4 females, and left my Chantecler hen see them, and she went into broody mode...like usual (her name is Broody Momma ).............after 2 days I then moved her to her own brooder where the eggs were moved and food & water was all set up...and she figured it out, I had moved her too soon...drats !
I had to turn on the incubator.
sOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOIf all goes right, we will have super dark (and spotted) OEggs bred back to a super blue cockerel...and the 2 blue am pullets bred by him also.....
Since the incubator is on, I am running fertility test eggs & put up my ads for hatching eggs for sale...may as well, as long as the incubator is on.
It is my little incubator...but still there is room for a few extra eggs...I'm just going to have a few extra chicks hatching...and that is how I got too many this summer, by "verifying fertility" every week......cracking them open is OK, but not as good as an incubator test.
