keeping the girls safe this is the old run but much smaller

I did not go very full as could not move them

First, I add a few shovels of soil, compost, a sprinkle of ironite, and a handful of little spudlets.
Then more soil, compost, ironite & repeat with spudlets.

I got about 12" from the top of the bag.

NOW...I am wondering if I should staple the bag closed, lay it down, gut it open, and grow the spuds horizontally....
I need to talk to a firend who does this & see which way she grows them.

I always do the bag upright lying against a wall or fence...theory is water & nurients wash down...blah blah...

But that would make it deficult for the little spudlets on the bottom to grow so high...
So I may lie the bag down, gut it open on top & go that route.

Pullet. The mostly white one is a cockerel.

Notice there is no hackle on the pullet (the barred bird)
and the bird has a hen tail...no sickles or other long plummage that males have.

I am having a great time hatching blue green layers.

I have yet to name them............as far as a breed.

I have wanted to do this for so many many years !

This is Exchequer Leghorn X Ameraucana & Blue and splash OE's.......so the OEs will be blue-green, the Ams will be blue eggs.

The birds are looking very Exchequer, some are blue too !

Now, if their legs will go slate, we will have ourselves an Exchequer Ameraucana !

If their legs do not go slate, they will just be cool EEs.

So.....where is the bat houses ?

We have several, and also had a mess of them IN THE HOUSE.
It is so weird, when, in a darkened living room late at night watch TV & something flies by in front of the TV !!!!!!!!!!!!!

The cats thought it was waaaaaaaaaaaay coool !!

NPIP now has a Data base, to which a member can log on, and upload all the info about shipments of eggs, chicks and polts.

So much better !
I just uploaded all the info about 2 shipments I am sending off TOMORROW!

This gives them a serious heads up on shipments moving around the country.

The old way was we had to fill out a form x 4, send 1 copy with the shipment, keep 1 copy, and send 2 to the state capital dept. of Ag.....so I would collect all forms & send them to Oly 1 x a week.

You can see how this slows down things, not to mention so many times a envelope was lost with alot of forms in it & the dept of AG would not send me new forms unless I sent them the old forms.....old forms lost were not their problem (they said)

YEAH it is their problem !!!!
Trying to stop a disease in the old manner was just plain stupid..............like neandrathal !
Like I am waiting for them to send me new forms so I can ship, and they won't until they get the old forms......................

I am very happy they took my advice & went internet !!!!!!

Yummy dinner, baked chicken, rice (in my new rice cooker) and chicken gravy, and steamed green beans (our green beans, which are AWESOME ! ! ! ) So yeah, it was one of those "hurt ya" dinners where you gorge...........LOL ok so not that I gorged...

Dessert is bananas, vanilla yogurt and choco syrup (just a drizzle !)
