Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

lots of us are on medicare now as we are old folks and we have to pay extra to get dental and they do not cover dentures I have had mine 6 years now gone through like three sets but gums have stopped receding so cross fingers never need a different one :fl

My hubby is needing a pile of dental work. He was semi-retired but got a job partially for the dental insurance and money to pay for it. It is sad it has to be so expensive. On a chicken note, I did a quick shell check under my broody Wyandotte Goldie and found yet another cracked one. This time I waxed it and put it in the incubator that was already going. 8 more days to go! At least this one was a hairline crack only, and the membrane is fine. She is the sweetest thing but she does not know how to be gentle. She pecked me in the eye once and took a nice chunk out of my cornea. Expensive chicken!

Don't know what I'm going to do with the broody hen I think today is day 9 or 10 in the wire cage had it elevated in the garage as it was the coolest place around put a fan on her and nothing now have her outside up in the air in the wire cage day 2 for that nothing. Now I have another broody in the coop:confused::eek:

@Hinotori :

You are lucky you still have decent insurance !
We are disability , so have no insurance for dental, and incidentally , we have no supplimental insurance either.
There is no such thing as supplemental insurance for those on social security/disablility...no one wants to cover us !
It seems so unfair, that anyone retiring & on medicare can get a supplemental insurance to cover what medicare does not...but nothing is available for us, except welfare, and you can only get that IF you are far below the poverty level...which is what...$400.00 a month income ????
So, anything that medicare does not cover (which is generally about 85% of hospital & medical bills.......has to be paid by cashola.
Including 100% of our prescriptions !
Seriously, people who have suffered accidents and are forced on social security disability are being seriously punished by not getting 100% of their social security AND not allowed to have supplemental insurance.
Like Gary jumped off a 2 story building on purpose !
Like I fell 3 x and ripped my knee apart on purpose.
I think we should get 100% of OUR SS like anyone else retireing.....

OK, off my soap box !

When it rains it pours !
To stop a broody, do everything backwards that they like to BE broody:

Increase light, keep the cage swinging as movement gets them out of their trance state, and cold air especially under their breast area wakes them up.

On the other hand, darkness, warmth, quiet will get a hen to want to be broody.
Leaving eggs to pile in a quiet coop is a temptation for alot of hens, they cannot stand the sight of all those eggs just begging to be sat upon !

:D

Bone loss will continue as you age, it never stops.
Which is why I wanted implants, as they preserve the bone.
But there is no way I can afford it so I am cancelling the surgery.

I worked as an Oral Surgery Asst' and am also cedified in anesthesia and assting and am certified dental asst'..............so I have been around.
Sucks now that the docs I worked for have long since retired, or I may have been able to talk one of them into giving me the works with a big discount.....maybe, just maybe there is still one practicing so I am going to see what they say there.
