Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hinotari, do you would think a couple of your hens would make friends with a larger bird? I have a mobility-challenged black copper maran who needs some friends, but just read that silkies stick to themselves, what do you think? I'm looking specifically for friends for her.

Hens are still hens when it comes to pecking order. Adult ones might pick on her or they might ignore. To get ones that would be nice with her you'd want young pullets.

Now no one picked on the little silkie pullet who was trampled by the dogs on accident. It took her months to be able to fully walk normal. The hens ignored her and she'd always have a sister with her for company.

I have a chick with wry neck that I have treated to no avail. She is friendly and eats and drinks well. She is 8 weeks old if you want her for your special needs chicken.

Thanks you so much for mentioning it but I am realizing this is turning out to be more complicated than I hoped. I think I will keep a close eye on Cordelia and if she seems to be suffering move her inside the house again this winter, and get a couple of chicks for her this spring.

Good luck with your girl!

Aren't they just so snuggly? The runt of the hatch is starting to put on some growth. She should end up a normal sized hen like her older sister. She has a larger crest so I'll be able to tell them apart
