isn't that why I have 4 was considering taking the 5 in the main part to the main coop but have two that are suppose be marans in with the silkies still they are not large enough to be safe with the cats

Sadly that isn't a joke. Last year one didn't lay at all before sitting. She went broody in July and started her third sitting a week or so ago

Hello everyone! It’s been a while since I popped in... lots going on and chickens were pushed to the sidelines for most of 2017. Now I’m looking forward to next year and hopefully I’ll have some chicks actually hatch. I set 60 +/- Wheaten Ameraucana eggs last year with ONE that hatched. Fertility issues with one cock and another one only mated with my black layers. Let’s hope 2018 is better for me and the chickens!

2017 wasn’t all that bad however... here’s our new little addition:
