Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Nest eggs encourage them to lay in nest boxes. I've found that putting several in the boxes I want them to use and none in others helps as well. Some hens just prefer to lay in a used nest box. Helps with pullets learning where to lay.

I had issues with hens and my herb pots. They killed the rosemary and winter savory to make nests one year. The only ones that free range now are old biddies who know what to do.

That doesn't stop then from carrying grass into a 5 gallon bucket that is on it's side to make a nest. Or one of the boxes that was waiting to get cut up. They try to be sneaky

We found like 30 eggs under these wild hazelnut bushes in their yard loked them in for 7 days teach them where to lay no more outside nests

My wheaten ameraucana roosters didn't have this good of coloring. This is almost upsetting in retrospect. The silkie roosters aren't as good either, but that is my ongoing project.
