I have ordered quite a few chicken chicks from Dunlap hatchery pretty nice birds. I had a lot of trouble with Cornish x chicks making the trip last year but they re-shipped, it was the postal service fault not Dunlap.

You could try to order from Dunlap hatchery. They are in Idaho.

Thanks. I'll check them out. They don't appear to have the large minimums that other hatcheries have, unless they just don't put it on their website.

I would have to find multiple people, as I don't want anywhere near 100 chicks of any of these species. I did get a couple pairs of quail from a guy in Washougal. I think I might just trap some pigeons at my friend's place and I saw some really pretty ones at my local feed store. I might ask if I can trap those.

There's a farm in Fall City that sells game birds; they don't seem to be very organized or particularly helpful when you contact them, but I might go there as a last resort.

Lost my jar of turmeric. I will get some and dye the yellow today. Did the beets and red cabbage. Strained through a filter. Dyed same way. No idea why the beet color turned out splotchy. I really like the cabbage.

This is not a quick dye process. Takes about 2 hours of soaking in the dye bath.

Nice easter colour there we did decide will not do any here this year

Red is beet. Dark red/brown is cooked in yellow onion skin. Orange is dyed in just the onion skin water. Yellow is turmeric. Blue is red cabbage.

All over blue eggs.
