Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I got a big kick out of your stories. Thanks! Great idea having the stool and towel handy for some one on one time and hair dressing.

Nothing like getting some hen hugging. Betsy Barr Rock was always my fav as she would let me pet her. But since the raccoon attack last summer she has become much more skittish. She is doing good otherwise though in her solo existence loving herself in the mirror everyday.

Anyway, I am so looking forward to having some "penguin chicks". Very cute names you chose BTW. Hilarious Pudge with determination that even George could not overcome pigged out on the suet. I am no good at figuring out a lot of the abbrev's though. What is a BSL? Is there a chart somewhere I can refer to as many times reading here I don't know what breed of chicken is being shared?

Here is a link to ALL the abbreviations regularly used on here.

Thanks so much! That is great. I bookmarked it for a reference. Now I can be in tune while reading.

Quote: Thanks. Actually we have been waiting for a call back from HD. I think they dropped the ball so will call tomorrow again.
It looks nicer & it lasts longer ... we have the marine climate so metal rusts faster. DH doesn't want to do it over in 10 years or so.

Update FYI: Well, DH called Home Depot today because we never did get that call back we've been waiting on. The guy helping us told DH that he has been calling everywhere he could think of to order it but nobody had the 6' high stuff. So looks like I will be ordering it from Wireman online tomorrow and paying big time shipping. Phooey.

Sad day for me. I just got off the phone with Marge Best's hubby, she is out of town until early next week.

I am not going to be able to surprise my DW by putting the chicks under my broody since hatch is friday. So I am going to spill my plan to my DW and see if she wants me to get them next week and just raise them in the brooder or wait until I get a broody again and try then. Since I have the money set aside already I hope she lets me get them next week. Plus they will be more people friendly I think if we raise them instead of the broody. Her hubby is going to pass on my phone numbers to her, so if she calls before Friday it still might be a go.

That is when I will let the Wifey in on my plan.

My nickname is also a disco song...I'm told it was a great song to roller skate to the in 70s.

Can I ask what the nickname is? I grew up at Gresham Skate World and worked there in late 80's/early 90's. If I could make the $$ I make now and work there, I would do it in a heart beat. I loved that job. I still skate regularly, though usually at Oaks Park. If you don't want the nickname on here you could PM it.

Hello, New to forum and found the WA thread. Am in Poulsbo, Kitsap, WA. Am new to chicken keeping since June when I got 4 EE chicks to go with the 3 yr old RIR hen I inherited from the last renter of our place. No more renters! I am really enjoying the whole experience. Hooked I guess.

Poultry are addictive, but so much fun and very rewarding!
