Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I’m gonna rant here because I can’t post it on Facebook...

Was outside taking down the “temporary” supports (chunks of 2x4) that the guys used to get the big cross beams up...thought it was leaning a little funny when I took the first side down...all 7 nails. 😬 Got to the second side and after removing half of the 10 nails in it, realized that side isn’t even secured to anything! 🤬. I used up every last bit of energy I had today on these two pieces of wood holding one piece up...and I ended up dropping the entire end of the run in the process! I’m so mad I could spit...my kids (and most of the neighborhood) learned a few new cuss words today. I’m already having to redig around posts because they couldn’t be bothered to even fill in around the posts (one they half jammed a concrete block into), now I somehow have to redo the whole thing because they decided a nail gun was better than the screws I bought and told them to use. 🤬

Also having a “bad” autoimmune day, dinner will likely be whatever my husband goes and buys because I simply cannot function any more today. I shouldn’t have gone out there to do it alone, if hubby had been out there (he’s working and has promised to see if he can fix it after work), he could have simply driven in a few screws and problem would have been solved. I just don’t understand how someone, knowing they’re building something that needs to be secure, leaves the thing in such bad shape! The other end I noticed, the nails are pulling out without me being anywhere near it. I guess I know what I’ll be doing this weekend! Gotta make sure all the battieries for the Ryobi tools are ready to go for Saturday morning.

Oh lord mad enough to spit the nails I do understand.
I grew up building and laying brick .. Better half was Sea bee in vietnam so it goes up stays up. Been in town most the day

Hubby is out now picking up dinner and buying me 5 gallon buckets to make into feeders and waterers. He's also pricing out extra hardware cloth and buying more screws so he can help fix the framing on the weekend. He's a keeper...we both learned a valuable lesson...don't just follow along with the old guy who has done this sort of building his whole life, lol.

I've cooled down and my new outdoor dog fountain arrived today in the mail...dogs are terrified of it, but I think it's super cool and by summer, they'll love it!

Any chance anyone is getting rid of a chicken coop/run for free or cheap? I keep my chickens at my moms house and she’s having construction done on the back yard area. Apparently the construction crew didn’t think we’d notice the fact that they broke our nest box (which effectively has made the whole coop unsecure and wobbly) and cracked/broke an entire main support for our run and busted the door. Today is definitely not my day.
live in the Longview area but willing to travel! Definitely wasn’t prepared to have to magic up an entire new coop and run

I figure it's a bit of a longshot, but is anyone interested in a Rouen drake? I ended up with three drakes out of the seven ducklings I bought in January and since they're so sweet, I figured I'd see if anyone wanted one before I just ate him. I'm in Tacoma.

We use our Amazon credit card for just about everything, because we earn “points” that we can then spend on purchases. My husband recently bought a new laptop for himself, so we had almost $90 in points! So, I used it to buy bucket feeder ports (6 of them) and another set of horizontal nipples, along with noise reducing earplugs for our 8 year old that we suspect has adhd or is on spectrum, but his pediatrician refuses to send for evaluation. I spent $100 today (also had a refund on a couch cover that was too small) and it cost me $0! Little things make me happy. 🤣. Also, I don’t have an ugly green plaid couch anymore...second cover fit much better.
