Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Oh saw that on the new bust did not surprise me how hot it got .. Been here in Washington since 68 all of it western side .. Juneau for 16 years that is the rain capitol but I was young ..

For once I’m wanting a week or two of solid, heavy, rain!
Haha, me too! I usually really enjoy warm summer days - but this is too much!! Plus I'm really concerned for my birds. I have older ducks with a big barn and aviary - but it does get really hot in there. They have a fan, but still. Yesterday when I dumped out their water buckets to get them fresh some spilled on my bare feet and it felt like hot bath water. 🥵

I did. That was me.

Never again. I will never complain about my abundant crop of sad green tomatoes again.
I have a really hot spot for them so mine almost always do fine. I just accept it’s either a tomato summer or it’s a cabbage summer. Most times I get plenty of both. This year though, I’m sure we’re not done with extreme heat.

Hey everyone! Hope you all are doing okay after this heat wave.

With 3 broody hens, I think this will work out for the duck eggs. The day before they're expected to hatch, I'll be moving the hens & the eggs to our empty coop to raise the ducklings. I also found out that I miscounted last night while candling the eggs, we had 10 eggs and not 9 like I thought. Because I'm cautious, I'll be candling them tonight again just to be sure it isn't our own ducks' egg.
And yes, I do know that I may have to move hens & ducklings if the hens fight to keep all the ducklings.

I feel a little bad about the fact that I'll be selling all the ducklings. I'll be letting the hens keep them for a few days before I sell them just to make sure they're all healthy before they go to their new homes.
