Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

My girls love to "help" in the yard so much. As I rake leaves, they follow me and re-distribute them. They will get in the way of my rake so that I have to stop and wait for them to move. I had too many "helpers" when I was trying to plant the last of my mom's irises the other day. They would pretend that they were not watching me. They would casually advance and start trying to scratch around the bulbs I'd just planted and moved on from. I need to start carrying a spray bottle around with me so that I can take care of my pest problem when I'm made to do garden activities.

That's too funny! I'm guessing that waving the rake around a little bit doesn't frighten them any more? I love watching these critters, they are so much fun! But I guess when you're actually trying to get something done it's not quite as fun, huh?

I know times are tough but if you have the money and long term makes more sense for your animals to be in that area solar power has come way down.
Even the all in one packages for light power needs have come down.
If all you need is small amount of light there or want heated water it might make sense for you.

Have you noticed those small solar panels attached to lighted signs on the side of the road lately?
Very cool to see they are using our tax dollars wisely for once.

Here is a resource you could go to see if anything there fits your situation..............

I know places like Costco and others have the simple all in one set ups for minimum power needs.

I don't know that it ever scared them at all. When I try to gently rake right next to their feet, they look at me like they're saying "HEY! I was picking through those!" Even though they undo what I do to some degree, their company is welcome.

My girls LOVE it when I rake. Seems they think I'm scratching too - and whatever I'm putting in the pile must be better than whatever they were scratching in the first place!

I make a pile, they destroy it. Our fun game

Another morning when I could really do with a human version of a hamster ball: every joint aches (lots of heavy lifting this weekend) and no avoiding being out in the rain for hours and hours, since the sheep needs hay and it's the day everybody gets rice and probably dry feed to four feeders on top of that.

We very much like solar. Makes life so much easier.

We've been looking at getting a small one for the chicken coop to run lights. DH wants to get a whole solar array on the well house after we rebuild it so we can run all the stuff in there and some of the house stuff off solar. We've been pricing out marine batteries since they work well for solar and are cheaper than ones sold for solar normally.

We see how far I've gotten on even getting the chicken lights done. I can't go up on top of the roof to install the panel (I'm beyond terrified of heights), so I haven't ordered anything.

Oh Man... If I had the skills and the right imagination I think this gutted pop-up trailer on CL would make the coolest chicken something...

okay... GOTTA get to working on my TODO list!!!!

We're having some tree work done right now and the poor girls are very sad. When I went out to see them earlier, I found Muffet nestled on the ground just in front of the coop door. Everyone else was hiding in the house, probably because of the huge Doug Fir crashing down in the field. Muffet is my big brave girl!
