I've never had a problem with it. Been using it for 8 years.

I don't have mold issues with the straw. It composts properly instead of molding for me. The chickens really shift through it to help it along. Also lots of worms

Found the mold on it here in nest boxes. Went on to use shavings.

I do use straw in nest boxes and floor of the coop. No problems. But we do clean it out fairly often.

I have birds that sleep in the boxes crap in them change it quite often.
I just started leaving them open, use to have the lids on them.
Took a new photo the other day.

Oh. I use fine shavings in nest box. Silkies get regular shavings in coops. Straw only in pens or runs for mud control.

I just wined I needed pavers to walk. He goes out most mornings knows how bad it can be.
