Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I just went out and found a huge egg! It's bigger than the fake eggs. Jumbo size!

Strange morning here. It's cloudy and still pretty dark out at 5:30AM, and my rooster just started crowing, an hour later than normal.

And standing on my front porch I could see lots of bats flying around on the hunt for insects. Many were flying just a couple feet past my head. Very cool!

Might get a little rain today, but everything is still dry outside right now.

I finished mowing down all the weeds growing in my lawn yesterday, and got a good dose of natural vitamin D from the sunshine.

I'm going to test the pressure gauge on my pressure canner today. I figured out how to mount a tire valve on the pressure canner lid, so I'll be able to pressurize the canner with my air compressor, then use tire pressure gauge to see if the pressure it shows matches the pressure shown on the canner's pressure gauge.

Good morning Washington! Slept late today until 7:30! Felt good!

Sounds dangerous. You could just take it to Bob's in Longview and get it tested there. I don't think they charge for that.

Extension offices shouldn't charge to test. They want people canning safely.

mine I've always used is is a weighted gauge so I don't have that.

Just got an electric pressure canner for doing small amounts. It does have a dial gauge I'll have to keep checked on it
Yeah I meant to call the extension office and see who does that around here. Or pay 23.99 for a new gauge. My canner is so old that prolly wouldn’t be a bad idea anyhow.

A few days ago someone gave me Clementine, she was running loose in the neighborhood. I would not own a meat bird, but was given her. Just this morning, I saw another one running in the neighborhood, and we stopped the car and it ran up and practically jumped into my open arms. I picked her up and took her to the same pen where Clementine is, I talked to a neighbor lady, and she said a lady who lived in our area, was not doing well mentally had just opened her coop and set them free. We have coyotes in the area, so not a good idea. My husband wants to keep them as pets. So I have 2 CC hens now, don't tell me they are meant to be eaten, I know. Anyhow the new one is named "Cleo".
