Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

The wind has kind of died down over here, and the rain has pretty much stopped, for now. Only found three eggs in the box this morning, plus for the first time, one dropped a shell-less egg in the box. Had to clean up a mess and wash the eggs.

I'm thinking this dark, cool weather is slowing down my chickens egg laying. Which is ok with me. But from what I've read, barred rocks continue laying all winter long, just at a slower pace. I know the ones I had 20 years ago laid year round.

My girls (7 hens) have started to slow down already. Last month we had 132 eggs this month I don't think we will even get 100. Yes, I keep track of how many they lay each day on a spread sheet. :caf
I don't keep a running tally, but I know mine have been slowing down too.

I pulled the forms off of the little concrete pad I poured around the well head today and back filled around the sides with dirt, so that project is pretty much finished. Got the solar panel setup I was playing with all disconnected and put away, batteries are back on the travel trailer.

I was going to put up some fence around my bed of kale and Brussels sprouts, but just too tired for that today. Maybe tomorrow I'll get around to it.

Clouds are starting to break up. I see patches of blue sky.
