Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Good morning. Workers here changing our tub/shower into a walk in shower today. I think it will take 3 or 4 days to finish the job.

Good time for me to get a few things done here. I'm going to bring the garlic in that is still hanging in the shed. I've been using it, but getting it from out there. I bought some stacking "in-baskets" that I will put in the laundry/pantry. I'll spread them out on those. Should keep them just fine until we use them all. It doesn't get steamy or hot in there and our house is usually pretty cool.

I'll pick out a couple big ones from each variety for planting this year. The hardnecks only have about 6 cloves each so I may keep a few more of those. Obviously I need to plant a lot more garlic this year.

I've been saving the softnecks to eat later since they last longer. I think I'll plant twice as many of those this year. I like that they last for 8 months or more. We use a lot of garlic, so I need a lot more than I grew this year.

Whew! Just had breakfast, but not before I nearly passed out. I generally don't eat until 11am, but for some reason it effected me today. I started the day making some Ranch and Blue Cheese dressings, and that little activity nearly did me in. That is so odd.

The diet is working otherwise, so I'll stick with it. I haven't had breakfast before 11am for a long time, probably 2 years, so I'm not sure that was the problem. I was a little under the weather yesterday too. Maybe I'm fighting off a bug. :idunno

Are you sure you're getting enough calories in your diet? Seems like all you say you eat is salad.

It feels like my body is fighting off the three vaccines I got yesterday. I was up at 4am which is kind of normal then had to take a nap around 8:30. I don't quite feel sick, but something's going on which means the shots are working and creating antibodies.

I picked all the cukes I could find in the dark this morning (headlamp and flashlight) and have them soaking in salt water. I'll be making dill pickles again this afternoon.

I cut off the tops/branch ends of all the tomato plants to encourage them to get those tomatoes ripened. I accidentally cut off enough green tomatoes to make an experimental pint of dill pickled green tomatoes. Maybe they'll be good???

Pruned the fall cukes, watered some stuff.

My chickens will eat zucchini plants now. I threw a big bush in the run a few days ago and it's almost gone, leaves and stems. Three more zucchini vines to go.

Thanks for your concern!

Actually, all I eat for dinner is salad with a cup of homemade broth. But I use my own ranch or blue cheese dressings, which are hearty, and I eat a good size salad. The broth provides the protein. What I'm mainly avoiding is complex carbs.

So, that may not sound like a lot, but I eat a big breakfast with veggies, eggs and fruit, sometimes cheese. That's what I consider my main meal. It's true I'm not eating a lot of meat, but I have never been a big meat eater. The last couple years I'd say I ate about 2 oz of meat a day, so it's not that big of a change to go with the broth.

Tonight I'm making Pho and I will have that without the rice noodles. I will have a few slices of the sirloin in it, no more than a couple ounces, and the bean sprouts. I will also have a salad.

I'm sure my body is complaining a little bit, but too bad. It is going to get under my control and not the other way around! :lau
