Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Unfortunately, I think we have changed our mind on that. We may be getting close to the end with Cooper. 😥

It just doesn't make sense. Sometimes I have to do what's best for the flock and not follow my heart. Always tough for me.
I totally understand. At least you're giving Cooper a good life while you've been trying to integrate him into the flock. You've done all you could so don't let it get you down. Too much, anyway.

Oh yeah, and I forgot that I also have a RIR pullet that I'm keeping, so I'll have six pullets and two cockerels. That should be more than enough. And maybe one too many. LOL

I think it will turn out to be too many roosters, but I have heard of it working, so you never know.

Thanks so much for understanding. I really didn't want to get to this place.

I might keep all three roosters, and go with my original plan of building a bachelor pad for two roosters to live in. Then let one rooster live with the girls, rotating them out depending on which rooster I want chicks from.

I don't know. It's still a plan in progress.

I wish I could remember which member has been doing this for years. It has worked very well for them. And interestingly enough, the roosters in the bachelor pad get along. That person just lets a rooster in with the girls for the day and back to his own coop at night.

That's good to know!

I made a 7 pint batch of salsa today. Kitchen's a mess and I don't really feel like cleaning up just yet. I haven't even had time to go out and check for eggs today.

I have 7 pints of my chicken broth in the canner. Some had to go into the freezer because that is the limit of this electric canner. I have to admit that chicken broth made from the carcass of a $27.00 chicken is really the best broth I have ever made, or bought. 🤣 I've certainly made that chicken go for a lot of dinners an uses. You do that when you buy the golden chicken. :lau

There were two eggs waiting for me, and one of them was from big Orange. I can tell because of the size.

I notice a little black spot on the comb of one of the other pullets, and I assume it's from the cockerel grabbing her. It's just a speck so no big deal.

When I had Cooper and his brother, they were too aggressive. One of them actually ripped a comb partially off of one of the barred rock girls. I hope the cockerels I have are gentlemen, and they seem to be so far.

Dishes washed and drying, so that's good.

@ValerieJ , did you get your shoes?
