Thank you so much! Also for the other thing.Pips&peeps is a good person to go to. She lives on the other side of the mountains though. You could do a search on here and her name should pop up. The last place I remember seeing her post was on the Chehalis show thread.![]()
Thank You. I sure will be. Wow, such love flowing out from these pages since I last read them.I haven't been on this thread in weeks or BYC for that matter so am way too far behind on this thread to go thru them all. Just wanted to pop in and say that I still breed and show the WBS Ameraucanas if Laughing Feather is interested in that variety. The WBS variety needs a lot of work but my birds have done very well at all the shows when they have any competition. Though it is usually a solid color that will take BB. At least thus far.
LaughingFeather, if you (or anyone else for that matter) is interested in knowing more or have any questions, it's best to send me an email. Not sure how often I'll be on BYC or this thread.
God Bless,
Thanks Carolyn. Time for a lunch out I think, don't you? Now to read more.Hey There... I was just about to reply to Laughing Feather and give her your name, but you beat me to it. So, Kathy.... check out Tailfeathers he has some very pretty birds!
Mine has gotten so loving that it is funny. I can't go anywhere outside without chickens following me. LOVE IT!My Caunnie looks just like that. She's a sweetheart. When she wasn't laying, she stopped wanting to be around me, but now that she's laying again, she's back to following me everywhere, wanting me to pet her and doesn't mind being picked up.
Have you tried posting him on Craigslist?
If the other girls aren't picking on her she will eventually be ok. Keep Blackie as long as you possibly can. It may take awhile but she will integrate eventually. It will be ok mom.![]()

The fact that they are still peeping has a lot to do with the fact that they are not welcoming her. I always wait until they sound more like hens than chicks. But if you couldn't then it might just take longer.

I kind of hate to say it, but I am certain that the boys are Silkie crosses. Silkies don't normally have anywhere near as many smooth feathers, like your boys do. I will say though that I think the partridge boy is very cool looking. I hope you can find a home for them.Hello,
I have four Silkie cockerels I need to find their own flocks. If anyone is interested or knows someone please pm me. I have a blue, black, white and a partridge. I am not a expert on silkies so I do not know if they are up to standards or not, I got them to hatch eggs. They all turned out to be cockerels. i
I can get pics of the other two.

Quote: Oh no! That's horrible to hear. I hope you are able to find the bandit!
Wow!! You have a beautiful flock! We're finally back home after a marathon 19 day trip visiting relatives in Texas. It would have been nice and relaxing if we hadn't had a 2 year old, but as it was it was pretty good. Nice to see family, especially family we may never get to see again. Getting older sucks.
I'm slowly catching up on household chores. We came home to a filthy, smelly house and spent our first night back vacuuming, picking up, and doing laundry. Just what I enjoy after 7 hours of travel on too little sleep!!! But although the house's condition left a lot to be desired, our house/pet sitter took pretty good care of the critters. We lost the smallest white silkie chick, but all the others look good. I went out back this morning to care for the hatchery "chicks", and someone swapped them out for hens! My girls are growing up.They even sound like hens. No more peeps, they all cluck. I spent a while out there talking with them and I think they remember me, but they are quite skittish. The SS, Masala, would brave the patio and get about 10 feet from the pen, but the littlest thing would make her zoom back to the pen, wings flapping. Butter, the SF, spooks very easily and doesn't like going anywhere without Masala. Jerk is still the most confident, but I can't tell if she is top hen or not. She still remembers me and stood on the stump in her pen to talk with me. I wish it was warm and dry, I would have found a comfy spot to sit and spent a while out in the yard with them.![]()
Here are my girls, almost grown up!
Jerk is so pretty!
Butter is getting her beard. I hope it fills out more.
Masala is still a little rough looking, but her color is coming in nicely. She is probably the boldest one out of the coop, and a glutton for mealworms.

What a good game! The Seahawks are finally back, lol! What will be really exciting it the Crimson Tide/Fighting Irish game on tonight!! My DH is from Alabama and my side of the family is ND...it will be tense! How about them Seahawks!!!
My mom has a friend who raises Heritage Dorkings and I think my DM is going to try and get some for me. Is there anyone who is raising them now? I know I will have to do a bit more looking up the breed, but I always love a good first-hand account! I wanted five different kinds of hens for my first flock, but am thinking that sticking to one as a first-timer might be a better call. Although, if you ask anyone who knows me, I already know everything![]()
