Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Ok, I just gotta vent to some of my fellow washingtonians. Is it just me or did the sun NEVER come up today???? I swear it was dusk all day! I couldn't figure out why my chickens wanted to go out so badly when all I wanted to do was hibernate. Its tough to homeschool your kids from a coma! I am desperately praying for an early summer. I am so jealous of people in warmer areas or with bigger barns who are hatching already. I want me some peeps! And I need the sunshine for that so come on spring. Let's get on with it!!!!

(yes I do realize that I live in the Seattle area and spring won't actually be here for another 5 months but seriously, today was ugly!)

Thank you for letting me vent. I feel better now. :)

I totally agree! I never really woke up today, and we homeschool too! It was a HARD day to teach when it seemed like I should still be in bed! First day back from a 2.5 week break, ugh!

Apparently my chickens never really woke up either, it was our worst egg day in weeks! Only 4 eggs :( I've been getting used to 6-7 eggs a day, and it's going up finally, but 4 sucks! Good thing I didn't find a taker for the last dozen eggs I advertized, now we'll need them for breakfast.

I have two white silkies left, after losing the smallest one while we were on vacation. These are the two that Sheryl thought would be boys. I'm crossing my fingers that she was wrong, since it's so hard to sex silkies! Would you all mind taking a look and telling me what you think?

I really hope I've got at least one pullet to add to my flock. I need to get the other birds used to silkies before they grow up!

ETA: I think these are about 14 weeks old?

It may be another month or so before you can really start to tell. It is so hard to tell from pictures of just the head. Sometimes it's the way they carry themselves and behave. It usually takes longer to tell on good quality silkies.

I
It was all SeaChickens in the second half  Only Because  RGIII was hurt and finally couldn't play anymore !  Sorry fans, I just call them the way they are  :idunno  :gig
think RgIII is a great QB. If he is their saving grace they deserved to lose. It's a team of 11, not 1 QB!

Pictures of them standing would help give a guess. I would say #1 male. #2 Standing pictures would help. Both standing side by side would be even better.

Yes RG3 is going to be a great QB I think, But so is that guy from the SeaChickens ! Whats his name again

If your going to have one Great player on your team its better to have it be the QB then say the center or an end or tackle

I noticed this too! I have been getting 7 eggs a day and suddenly it started raining again and today I got a whole 4 eggs. Doh!

VERY interesting, I'm going to start watching that! Another thing to write on the calendar.

Only got 4 eggs out of 5 hens today. My old RIR didn't lay. Still better than your guys average. Is it because my hens are under a year? or is it because I am giving round the clock light.
I don't notice much of a differences when it just rains, it more when it starts to get cold my total is slowly going up was getting 4-5 now getting 6-8

Yes your right, the average chickens BEST laying time is their first 1 1/2 years then they start to slow down a bit. alot of my flock is at 2 1/2 yrs. I will get about a dozen new chicks in the spring to replace my older girls in the fall

Latte is out in the backyard. I'm five minutes late for where I'm supposed to be. By the time I get there I'm going to be 20 minutes late. Please send good chicken vibes, wishes and prayers Latte will be alive when I get back. There's nothing else I can do. I can't catch her.
