I get so stinkin bored at work, so all I do is look up breeds and dream about the chickie poohs....

Eric at SFS is going to have another hatch date 2/25ish I think and there will be more breeds. You should go to the website and see. It would save you on shipping if you bought from somewhere who already paid the shipping. And that's not terribly long to wait...

I got a great new big enough coop for $75 on Craigslist! I'm so excited.

It is new bare wood--what should I treat it with to make it last in the rain? I have it in the garage right now to keep it dry until I can paint it or whatever. Should I put anything on the roof?


I'm going to build external nest boxes and put a clean out door on the back. Half of the roof comes off for cleaning but it's heavy. It needs a latch on the door and rungs on the ladder.

Either put something over the roof to keep water out or use the stuff for sealing a wood deck, same with staining it. I'd go with stain instead of pain because that wood looks pretty

sounds normal. I have 3 eggs that are extremely healthy going to hatch next week. I'm having trouble waiting for them to hatch. I keep checking on the healthiest one, candling it watching it grow. It's so cool. Tonight i might try to get a good picture of it to post. Because it's a white shelled egg i can see in it easily and the veins look so cool in it.

I am hoping to get 4-6 all different breed chicks. Just a tote set-up in the kitchen and then down to the basement until they get their feathers.

I was just looking at the site, I like the ones coming in on the 25th!! Seattle is so hard for me to get to, it's like I get to work in Kent, but that Renton border is the hardest line for me to cross lol! After my rush-hour commute, and all the crazies on the road, I just like to get as far south as possible, haha!!

I know what you mean. I don't work outside the home but heck, I don't even like to leave my house! LOL
