Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Thank you Trav .... Calvin (the Hound) is really good about not chasing things when I'm around, so if I leave and the chicks get to stay out while I'm gone, Calvin may just have to be chained. The Rott/Lab/German Shepherd/????????? Mix I am not worried about at all .... This morning the poor guy had the baby picking food kibbles out of his bowl and once I got her away, the cat started sharing food with him.

I love the idea of a citronella collar!! LOL

I have a shock collar that I will be implementing (with Calvin) once I see how he does with me being outside with the chickens. Maybe I can use the beep for the roo? (totally kidding!!)

Well, I just called the police department and "was looking to move into town" .... Roos aren't allowed in residential areas, but I'm hoping since we aren't really in a residential area, but kind of back up to one, that we will be able to get around that rule .... We're on a 1/2 acre and the clerk was saying you had to have at least that to have a roo, so fingers crossed we can get around it! People at the end of our road have chickens and a rooster, so it looks like I'll be dropping in on them to see if they went the legal way, or are being sneaky petes about it.

Sweetlilbaby, my dog is a little on the hyper side still, too. He is two in November and has all that puppy energy. But he is very smart and listens well (except for "down"!). We are hoping with work, he'll be a great chicken herder!

He looks a lot like FlyRobinFly's puppy on her profile picture, he's a poodle/golden retriever and Australian shepherd mix. He has some great traits!
My big dog was raised from a puppy around chickens and couldn't care less about them being around. But Oscar just turned 2. He is so hyper. He's Australian cattle dog/rottie/wiener dog. it took a lot to teach him not to use his mouth to herd them. And not to attack if they run. That was a hard one. It's why i used a vibration collar. if he didn't listen i'd vibrate him and he'd run to me.

Hi Everyone :) I'm very, very far behind here, so many posts in the last week or so!

I wanted to let you all know how well Miss Frodo is doing :) She has been sleeping in the coop and hanging out with the birds all day.

Then I couldn't find her on Thursday...looked EVERYWHERE! Finally found her in...the BROODY COOP!

She is feeling so great that she wants some babies!

So - does anyone in the area have 4 to 6 fertile bantam eggs to purchase? I'd really love to get some more belgians or japanese, but am not terribly picky!

(They do need to be bantam though, I don't want her to have chicks that are larger than her in a few weeks!)

Thanks in advance!

wow so busy! Bantam hatching eggs, anyone? :) Or know of good breeders in this area?

I'm outside right now with the chickens and kids :) So great today!!!
