We'll touch base again in February. I got mine from twigs I picked up off the ground at Greenlake.

Is this the Gold Willow you're talking about? They are beautiful. Huge, too. When you first mentioned them I was thinking of something more like a Red or Yellow Twig Dogwood, what a difference!

I also wanted to mention.... Gorgeous Needlepoint project. Will it be a wall hanging or something else?
I have yellow twigged dogwoods as well. I also could take rooted cuttings off my 'Midwinter Fire' if anyone is interested. The gold stemmed willows do become big trees if left to themselves, but they can be coppiced to stay large shrubs.

Why do the eggs seem to change color when put in the carton in the fridge? The dark part is the top where the egg IS NOT touching the egg carton.....

I've got some gold stemmed willows. Would you like some slips when I trim them in February? Willows take so easily. All you'd have to do is stick them in the ground.

I'd love some. Willows are quite forgiving and the gold stemmed ones are interesting in winter.

It's February. Pm me if still interested. We'll set up a time.

I have been told that the large bush/small tree growing on the old dump pile by the pond here is gold stemmed willow. The stems are a very pretty yellow.

Thankyou so very much for remembering. I don't need them with a twig donator here.

Planting info would be great, though. Do I just cut off a few feet of branch and put it in a hole poked in the ground? Should it be a young branch or older.

Holy Cow Batman, give a listen.
When your chickens git you down and life is pressing in on you give this a try.

Wow they are amazing! I was trying to post it on my FB but the button to do that was not there this time. Even my kids liked it.

I am just guessing here. But I think it is because when they go into the fridge sometimes the eggs get moisture on them (because of going from being warm to cold). Now with brown eggs, they are actually white shelled eggs and when they are being laid as the bloom is being put on the brown color is also added. So when the eggs get wet and are touching the carton, possibly the color is coming off. If you boil brown eggs with salt or viniger and then wipe the eggs off they are white.
