Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

And, it'll teach your children that chickens lay white eggs, too.  LOL!  Heaven forbid they should think eggs are always brown or green.

Mine won't even consider eating white eggs now... Lol... Of course, I just crack whatever I have into the pan... But it is pretty funny when he talks about the eggs ;-)

That's funny. Kids can be so picky about the silliest things. Change the shape of a noodle, and my kids won't eat it. It is very frustrating. For the longest time they wouldn't eat food if it was on the wrong color plate, or drink from a cup that wasn't the right color. I finally chucked all the plates and cups and bought one color. Now that they are older, we have been able to slowly switch back to multi-color.

Jess - we understand. Really, we do. Then comes the day where you are so done with chicks (that's where I'm at, right now). Then, in a few months, it's just like pregnancy - you want another baby. LOL! And the cycle continues....

After all were gone DW started cracking up laughing. She said she really likes FM and thinks she is soo funny! While she will say if she likes people. It is not often that on first meeting she is so forward about her feelings.

That's awesome! I glad you guys had a good time. Was thinking about ya and wishing I could have made the trip down.

hah! I laughed out loud. The kids have NO idea why

I'm excited to turn 30. I've been making lots of changes to my lifestyle, wardrobe, home, etc. I *almost* feel like a grownup right now. Almost. I think the 3 kids is the only thing that makes me a grownup.

The 30s are good years. So are the 40s.

And I'm really hoping the 50s will be, too. When you're stuck at that mid-way point between 40 and 50, there are days ya wake up and think it's IMPOSSIBLE to be so close to being half a century old.

It's time to have a mid-life crisis. And then ya remember - the chickens running around in the back yard probably ARE the mid-life crisis.

Those look so amazing! If those were also egg free I would trade a hen for em! lol...

When I get a good egg-free cupcake recipe down, I'll pass it on. I've been working on it. I used to teach cake decorating, so getting cupcakes all of us can eat is kind of a big deal for our family. The last recipe went well (people said they preferred my cupcake over the store-bought ones that we also set out at DS's B-Day party), but it still needs a little bit of improvement IMHO. It is still a tad bit crumbly.

Well, since I am just starting my trek in the 40's I am looking forward to my youngest leaving the nest in the next couple of years. I of course will not have an "empty nest" since the chickens are filling those quite well. And of course, there is the possibility of adoption/foster care down the road.

If your chickens free range, be prepared for them to scratch dirt on top of the stones. My front walk looks great, but the one on the side of the house (past the gate at the end of this walk) is constantly buried under dirt and mulch.

Beautiful! You did a great job.

As for the chickens scratching - I am now wishing we had not put landscape fabric beneath the wood chips beneath the kids' playset. I'm continuously pulling chunks of landscaping fabric out as the chooks uncover it. I'm also constantly having to hose wood chips off the lawn and back into the play set area. That poor area looks so bad. Deep holes with lansdcaping fabric sticking out all over.
