Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Yep, but it's not worth it. With todays prices on desktops, especially the refurb ones (usually good warranty) it would be better and more cost effective to just replace it. You really only need the tower as you already have a monitor, key board and mouse. Even lap tops are getting cheap. jmo
One of these days....this one is from 2006 I think...so it is time.
As soon as the house is done, I can think of other things to do with the money !! Alot of things !!!!!!!!!

Well... poop. Dog, to begin with: I spent ten minutes picking up dog bombs for every one I was doing anything else, and THEN when I went out to shut the final pasture gate into the orchard* I found a coyote marking poop, maybe ten feet from Ian and Sylvia's pen, and was not ready to go retrieve dog poop to counter it. I buried it under mud (I've got an infinite supply of that right now, if you need any) and cow-pie.
I'm idly considering the complications of wiring a shock cage for the suet boxes, one I could turn on when the starlings attack but which would also come one at full dark to zap rodents. It is possible I'm getting evil in my old age.
Evil, evil, evil...
*which I nearly immediatly had to open when a cow showed up on the wrong side of the gate. Stupid lack of clear sight-lines.
what a day you are having !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just wrote a check for $9,971.50............................and now I think I need a nap !

Ouch. We're getting new windows for the entire first floor of our house so I had to write the first half of the payment last week, so I feel ya! It's painful, but hopefully we both be happy with the results!

Drama gets along with everyone. She's super docile. I think she's the top pullet, but she just doesn't know it. Drama's the one who watches the skies. The other two follow Drama around. Because I've never seen aggression out of her, I think Drama might be the only one I can put Latte with safely. Even when the chicks are free-ranging in the yard, Drama's never pecked at any of them. She just watches them. Caunnie has pecked at Rocha - but I think Rocha might have instigated that one. Until that happened, I thought Caunnie, Drama and Latte would be a good trio in a coop. Now I'm not sure about Caunnie with a youngster.

I don't trust Rhodie with Latte - at all. Latte will have to be integrated without Rhodie in the same coop, that's for certain. I'm not sure if I'll have to put Rhodie by herself, or what.

I'm not sure if this is one of the questions that can be asked but may not be answered :) but it doesn't hurt to ask---how many people are keeping more chickens than they are legally supposed to?    I want more and more hens, and technically I can only have 4 more, however, there are at least 6 more breeds that I would like.   I am in Seattle and have a fairly average size, small back yard.  They have access to the whole yard and only sleep in the coop.  I would need a larger, nicer coop.

How much trouble can you get in?  Do the neighbors have to complain before anything happens?  What are the consequences?

I would also like to ask for advice about what breeds I should get, but not sure if I should ask here or in another forum.

Nothing will happen until early spring, at the earliest, so I'm just planning right now..

Well I am lucky and don't have to deal with the same limits that many of you have. My advice would be share some eggs with your neighbors to help keep them happy. I would keep a low profile and not make a big deal about the # of birds you have and don't get too carried away with how many you have.  And I think ya need  some Faverolles

It's on my list :)    also on my list are

copper black Marans, for egg color,
barred rock,
gold lace wyandotte
welsummer,
black sex link

a blue/green egg layer
olive egg layer
and there are many others I like..

It's too many.  I would gladly get rid of the buff orp.  She is as old as my white leg horn and red sex link, who have been laying since Sept, and she hasn't laid a single egg.  And she's skittish.

This is actually to everybody ESPECIALLY newer peeps. Please keep in mind that not all birds get a long well so one should really do yer home work before mixing too many breeds in the same housing.

That's why I'm asking questions now :)  Which four would be best to go with the four I have now--or should I just get more of the two that I really like?  (leghorn and sexlink)
In my experience, Barred Rocks are great. I'm on my third and I love her dearly. Mine have not been mean birds and they have gotten along quite well in my very mixed flock. My opinion on Black Sexlinks is pretty much the same. Plus, they have hawk faces!

We got 6 barred rocks last year and had issues with them bullying all the other birds. 4 of them had some isolation time, 2 learned quick. The other 2 I never could get to be nice. Let them out and they'd immediately go after the nearest target. We ended up having to freezer them.

The 4 we still have are nice birds and lay well. One of them has always been the friendliest thing. She's one of two birds that actually come to their name.

Can anyone confirm the sex of these two birds? I've learned to wear gloves with these birds - Blackie has very sharp claws and has ripped my finger twice. Ouch!

Rocha... (Cocoa looks almost exactly the same - just more feathering on the feet)

This is the confusing part about Cocoa and Rocha - they don't have pointy feathers like we saw on the roos at the show... sorry about the blurry picture:

And this is little Latte. Not a yellow chick any more. Can you tell by seeing how little she is compared to me - and how big Rocha is compared to me how much smaller Latte is? S/he's tiny compared to the other three.

Any pullets in these photos?

I'll post pics of Cocoa and Blackie later. I want to try and get Blackie's photos in good light - he's so pretty - he's black with brown mixed in, but his lower feathers are turning a deep shiny greenish color.
Are these the Crow X Fudge babies ????????????????

So DH had got a computer up and running. It sat to long before he got it running. Motherboard refuses to work now. So no computer for now. Just have the phone. Pain in the rear to do the online bill paying on this tiny keyboard.

It never ceases to amaze me how absolutely exhausting it is to spend such a large amount of money !
I have done it several times in my life (wrote a check for $10, 759.25 for the van) and it was so hard to force myself to write out that check !

Ten-thousand-Seven-hundred-fifty-nine&25/100~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I need bigger checks..............not enough room for such a long amount !!!
I am exhausted now !!!!!!!!!!!

So funny !!! I worked so hard to get this loan, and arrange for all the work to be done, and wanted it done ASAP, and now I just want to hide the checkbook, lock the cabin door, disconnect the phone, and tell everyone to go away !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
