" Hotrod Lincoln "
Commander Cody

My pappy said "Son, you're gonna drive me to drinkin', if youdon't stop drivin' that Hot Rod Lincoln."

Have you heard the story of the hot rod race,
where the Fords 'n' Lincolns were settin' the pace?
That story is true, I'm here to say,
that I was drivin' that Model-A.

It's got a Lincoln motor and it's really souped up,
that Model-A body makes it look like a pup.
It's got eight cylinders and uses 'em all,
got overdrive that just won't stall.

With a four-barrel carb and a dual exhaust,
with 4-11 gears you can really get lost.
Got safety tubes but I ain't scared,
the brakes are good, tires fair.

Pulled outta San Pedro late one night,
the moon 'n' the stars was shinin' bright.
We was drivin' up Grapevine hill,
passin' cars like they was standin' still.

All of a sudden in the wink of an eye,
Cadillac sedan passed us by.
I said "Boys that's the mark for me,"
by then the tailight was all you could see.

Now the fellas ribbed me for bein' behind,
so I thought I'd make the Lincoln unwind.
Took my foot off the gas'n'man alive,
I shoved it on down into overdrive.

Wound it up to a hunderd an' ten,
my speedometer said that I hit top end.
My foot was glued like lead to the floor,
that's all there is an' there ain't no more.

Now the boys all thought I'd lost my sense,
them telephone poles looked like a picket fence.
They said "slow down, I see spots,"
the lines on the road just looked like dots.

Took a corner'n'side-swiped a truck,
crossed my fingers just for luck.
My fenders was clickin' the guardrail posts,
the guy beside me was white as a ghost.

Smoke was comin' from outta the back,
when started t' gain on that Cacillac.
Knew I could catch him, I thought I could pass,
don'tcha by then we'd be low on gas.

We had flames comin' from outta the side,
you could feel the tension, man whatta ride.
I said "look out boys, I got a license to fly,"
and that Caddy pulled over and let us by.

Now all of a sudden she started knockin'
down in the dip she started to rock.
And I looked in the mirror, a red light was blinkin',
the cops was after my hot rod Lincoln.

They arrested me 'n' they put me in jail,
'n they called my pappy to throw my bail,
'n he said "son you're gonna drive me ta drinkin'
if you don't stop drivin' that hot rod Lincoln.

Guess I killed the thread this time!

Well today when we were out doing a bit of shopping, I picked up some more sevin powder and an 18 gal. tub with lid. I've been feeling really sorry for the birds not having any dry dirt for a bath. Although when I filled a large tray with dry dirt from their favorite spot they just gave it a very wide berth! I left it in there for 3 days and nobody ever set foot in it (except #3 girl when I tossed in some BOSS)! So I got the tub home and cut a nice sized opening in the end, then added fluffy dry dirt, dry sand and DE. It's quite a bit deeper than what I'd put in the tray because I got the idea that might have been an issue. I set it in their pen but when I went out to lock them up I couldn't tell if anyone has checked it yet. So I threw in a sprinkling of scratch that I can keep an eye on. If it disappears it will mean they either ate it or buried it. (We've never had rodents eat their feed.) Dusted the BSL backside with sevin again, too.

I SURE WISH the RAIN would STOP! It's starting to depress me!!!

So... an the Christmas front... our youngest GD told me she wanted an Easy Bake Oven
barnie.gif
. Mommy said "bad idea" and I couldn't agree more because they are such a huge disappointment when they try to bake something. But I know she loves to bake as most little girls seem to. So as I was laying in bed one morning I thought... Why Not a Toaster Oven! We use our a lot and even bake things like shortcake! Yippee... Mommy said "good idea". So now I have the challenge of making a grownup's toaster oven appear to be a kids toy so it will be exciting and appealing to a 6yo!!!

Unfortunately I missed the black friday sale at Penneys, they had them for $8. But I found a good deal on one I liked, and it's much less than the toy version. Much to my dismay, it's been a bear to find tiny cake pans for less than $8 each. Tiny sizes seem to mean BIG prices. But I finally found something acceptable as well as small bowls, spatulas, etc. I even found a "petite" corningware casserole dish with the white and blue cornflower design just like mine. What a hoot. Now I'm going to mix up some cake, cookie, and frosting mixes for her to use. They're pretty easy to find on the internet. Of course my own daughter is skeptical, remembering the excitement of getting the Real Thing when she was little. She strongly suggested that I test out these recipes before packaging them up for GD. So tonight DH may be getting some tiny desserts to sample!!!

I'm still thinking I need to create some "packaging" that will look appealing to a 6 year old. Unfortunately graphic design is not my forte! Wish me Luck!!!

Se what happens when nobody is around... I talk a LOT!

Brace yourself for more rain, bounty of snow

After a wet November, December is getting off to a soggy start — but the storms that drench the lowlands will bring a bounty of snow to ski resorts.

It's early in the winter weather season to be whining, but Western Washington and the rest of the region are in for another round of drenching days with no break in sight.
A series of storms sucking up tropical moisture from the Pacific is expected to pound the Pacific Northwest through the weekend and into the week, bringing heavy rain to many lowland areas and dropping as much as 2 feet of snow in the mountains.
For the Puget Sound area, the chance of rain is 70 percent or higher through Tuesday. Beyond that, the National Weather Service forecast allows for at least a possibility of showers every day through Friday.
Things are even worse in California. Heavy rain and strong winds knocked out power to thousands, delayed flights and flooded runways Friday and Saturday. Parts of Sonoma County had already received more than 7 inches of rain, with more forecast through the weekend.
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning this weekend for Washington's Olympic and North Cascade Mountains, with 10 to 18 inches of snow likely by midday Sunday. Driving conditions at Snoqualmie Pass could be dicey on Sunday, with freezing rain possible, said National Weather Service meteorologist Johnny Berg.
Ski resorts across the state were updating their snow totals and anticipating more. Mount Baker ski area claimed to have the deepest base in North America, with 76 inches. Crystal Mountain, Stevens Pass and Mission Ridge are all at least partially open and trumpeting bigger things to come.
With another wet, windy trough moving in on Tuesday, conditions look soggy for Wednesday as well, Berg said. "Maybe by Thursday and part of Friday we'll have a dry period before another system comes in later Friday."
The Skokomish River on the Olympic Peninsula was spilling its banks Saturday, and is expected to remain above flood stage through Tuesday.
As the storms sweep across the state, Central and Eastern Washington are in for nasty conditions. Gusts up to 55 mph are possible Sunday afternoon and evening across the Columbia Basin. Heavy, wet snow is expected on the eastern slopes of the Cascades, with the snow level dropping down to the valley floor by early Sunday.
Dreariness is the norm for late fall in the Northwest, but November was notably so. Total rainfall for the month was 8.28 inches at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport — 1.71 inches above the monthly average. There was only one clear day in November.
But the month was balmy, Berg said. "Every place was warmer than usual." At Bellingham Airport, November's average high temperature was 52.7 degrees — compared to the normal high of 49.7 degrees.
The weather on November's final day set three new records. The high of 59 degrees at Sea-Tac Airport was the warmest for the day, surpassing the previous record of 57 set in 1951.
At the National Weather Service headquarters at Sand Point in Seattle, the high for Nov. 30 was 56, breaking the old record of 55 set in 2008. Total rainfall at Sand Point measured 1.45 inches, swamping the previous record for the day of 0.9 inches, which fell in 1994.

I just dug out all the old straw from nest boxes, repeated Eprinex, made 4 nests into 2 (removed partitions), and replaced straw with pine shavings. The entire time I worked they girls screamed at me! I even put out another next box (milk box) with bedding in it and some dummy eggs. They kept getting into it, fluffing it around a bit, and getting back out to yell at me.

Dumb birds. Anyway, they don't know what to think of their new nest setup.

I will never use straw again, I think that was our demise for the whole mite thing. I've been spending time getting the crazy amount of straw out of the run too. I don't have a clue if I've started my composter correctly. I put in a ton of straw and poop, and some leaves from the yard, and dumped in a bucket of water, then shut the lid. I'll go turn it in 2 weeks to see what's going on. Still need to find the Sevin dust I bought last month and dust the whole coop again. Lots of work this fall!

They were just trying their hardest to convince you to let them out (assuming that they were confined to the run)! I was cleaning my girls' house a bit a few days ago and they wouldn't stop yelling at me. They would only pause for a few seconds to breathe. I got so tired of hearing them screaming constantly that I caved and let them out.

So my DW finally got time to come out to the tractor and see the chicks tonight. She is,"ahhh, I love the babies", snuggling with them. She is going to have an absolute cow when she comes home from work Monday night to a bunch of silkie chicks in the house, that will be her birds.

I am a graphic designer. You could print your paper for wrapping with a design made just for her. Print out some flat magnets designed just for her. Lots of things. Contact me. I can help.

I'm trying to convince DH that I need a Great Pyrenees pup for my present!!

Since were taking a little stroll here. Does anybody remember these??? I have actually ridden in one. See when I was about 4-5 my dad was working on one for somebody in Yakima. So when he got done we (the whole family) took it for a test ride from Gleed to what was then the Golden wheel Chinese restaurant in down town Yakima.

IT'S URKEL'S CAR!!!!!!!!!!!! I WOULD LOVE TO SEE MY 6'3" DH GET INTO AN ISETTA!!!

Oh yeah, there are quite a few times where I am just fine with being called immature and paying people back in the good name of Karma is one of them!

DS's Dad and I have problems at times, but there is no reason for DS to even be in ears hear away of any of that. We do pretty good with getting along and not bringing our kids into any of the ex drama.

Now as far as the race car..... My DH has a 1988 fox body Mustang, with 600 hp that is with 150 shot of NOS. Last time he took it to the track he did not have his slicks yet and when he tried to leave the starting line he just sat there spinning tire!
I have a 1986 short bed Chevy, single cab with a 12in lift. Right now it sits on 38in tires but we are looking for 40s, as for the motor.... I have 514hp and that is with out NOS. We like our toys and we like em fast baby! My truck has more lights on it than the New York Christmas tree in Time square. Also it is not diesel but I have 6in flat black straight
stacks that come up though the bed of the truck from the exhaust.
That is one of the weirdest cars I have ever seen! How cool was that to ride in?

I WOULD LOVE TO BUMP UP OUR 2011 5.0!!!! WE ARE BIG FANS OF THE FOX BODY ALSO! DH HAS A '69 GRANDE(?) THAT HE TOOK THE MOTOR OUT OF AND WE HAVEN'T HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO GET A REPLACEMENT SO, SADLY, IT'S BEEN A SHELL FOR SEVERAL YEARS COLLECTING DUST.
