Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hey everyone! I'm not even going to try to catch up with over 400 posts! I just thought I'd check in...I still have one pair of Giant Dewlaps for sale & 8+ Spangled Russian Orloffs, hatched this fall. They don't need a heat lamp and are unsexed. I'll be traveling to Portland for Xmas and can drop them off along the way. :)

Audrey's getting so big!!! She's getting molars right now--so that's been LOADS of fun! Yes--that's sarcasm. :) She's starting to RUN, too! She loves to help feed & collect eggs. She's really loving the "bawk-bawks" as she calls them.

We're saving up for a new house. Our plan is to have this one hauled out and build a new one right on this spot. We're also saving up for a surrogate for another baby--which is something we'd like to do in the next year or so. I learned that in WA State, it's illegal for a woman to be a surrogate for financial gain, so anything the insurance company doesn't pay for can be "gifted" rather than paid to someone.

Anyway, here's some pics of her from October.

She's beautiful! And so big!

Hey all! Got to meet Farmin' Mama today, and KMHunter, Slinglings, and Dawn. Anyone else I missed, sorry! I was flustered with 3 kids in a line for 30 minutes (but got a smokin' deal!!) and then stood around talking for only a few minutes.

FarminMama, my son was thoroughly impressed that you were carrying while you walked around the feed store...and that you were a GIRL carrying! LOL I don't know why he doesn't think mama is as cool with a gun. Maybe it had something to do with the amazingly fun and ginormous dog you also had

Thanks so much for the eggs I couldn't pay for; I'm a putz and forgot to make change at checkout for the eggs!! Grr, too much going on in my head to remember, but the eggs are amazing and we are eating half of them for dinner tonight to make my life easier. I love the tiny pullet egg you threw in there with all those large and extra large eggs, too cute! I forgot how tiny my girls eggs were and that was just in August!

Dawn - you are too, too sweet! Thank you for the extra's in my order, they will be well loved by us, and the people who will be receiving some things as baby gifts soon. I'm sorry you had a migraine, I know those well and it's so hard to function like that!

Sara - Nice to meet you briefly and see your cute family! Sorry we didn't get to stay and chat longer :(

Kim- dont' forget to let me know if you got the coupon in your email, I'll send you mine!

After the feed store I went to my inlaws and while we were there I was able to leave the kids for 10 minutes and go pick up my 1/4 cow! It was super awesome coming home with 6 bags of chicken feed and 135lbs of beef in the back of the car.

I'm very far behind on posts, and I can't wait until I can have time to catch up with all of you.

TWO BCMs have pipped!!!!! One day early. Good grief - I went into lockdown yesterday! Whew! That was cutting it close.

The eggs should hatch tomorrow... which means I could potentially have 12 more babies to brood. That said, yesterday, DH told me I really need to figure out who's staying and who's going from my first hatch. I still don't see any pointed feathers, so I'm very confused about who's a boy and who's a girl. Can any give me a definite in any of these pictures? Please!

BTW... look how big they are compared to my "big girl" Caunnie. The chicks will be 8 weeks tomorrow. Caunnie is 8 months old.

Here's Blackie...

Here's Latte...

Here's the "twins", Cocoa and Rocha... (Rocha on the left, Cocoa on the right)

Here's Cocoa...

Here's Rocha...

Who are boys? Who are girls? I don't want to mess up and accidentally take a pullet to auction.

THANKS!!!!!
Gonna stick my neck out and say Latte is a pullet. The rest are cockerels. But they all look good. Were the twins a result of Fudge and a barred hen? If so they are sex-linked with the barring in males.

Travis - I was gonna guess Latte as the only pullet too. Guess she has two votes, even if one is a novice.

I was able to fit 9 bags of Nutrena Naturewise Layer Pellets in my deep freezer, along with some bags of frozen fruit, 135lbs of beef in all different forms, and about 2 dozen chicken breasts. That's a BIG freezer! Bigger than even I though. Now I just have to get through the 3 remaining bags of Purina that I just bought before they go bad since they didn't fit in the freezer.

Woah, I am a novice too. I have only had chickens since May. But I did research for almost half a year before I got them. I wanted to be prepared.

It was really nice to meet you too! I found the coupons, but now I remember why I didn't print them off. I am using Flock Raiser and it excludes that particular feed. So, with that said, I have a $10 off coupon for 2 bags of Layena if anyone wants them. :) PM me.
