Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

One point I overlooked in my earlier post. The med I was taking wasn't for anything related to depression. It was for a sleep disorder. Also since it happened gradually over such a long time it made it hard for me and others to really figure out what was going on. I have a Dr. appointment tomorrow to look into other med options. Right now at one week I am feeling so much better in so many ways.

I hope this information can be helpful to somebody. I also want to thank all of you for your support and friendship.

Hope you find something that helps without the nasty side effects.

Sweet Silver, I love your gingerbread house and especially your sense of humor - with the behind the scenes debris - what fun. I bet that is even yummier to eat.

OPen comment to anyone Re:depression it is very imporant to be monitored especially during changes(up or down) in dosage of meds. I've been depressed for most of my life, after many many trials with meds and what they call "a cocktail of meds, ie', some of this and some of that.", only ONE worked for me. It is true that after a time it seems like they don't work any more. When this happens I have to go on other meds - trying one after another and they don't help much at all but keep me going. After an interval of several months I am able to go back to the med that worked and it works again. All this done under doctor care. Another thing when my med went generic - I didn't get the full good response but, at least I am functioning better than without it.

People do have to realize it is not a DIY project and bystanders(family and the like) have to realize NO ONE wills themselves to be depressed, etc. There is no payoff to do so. You can't will yourself to be 'strong," and "get over it." You really need to be diagnosed by a competent mental health professional and have them call the shots re: meds, therapy etc. It is especially important if you are an older adult - as metabolism is slower and dosages are usually reduced.

NAMI-National Alliance for Mental Illness) is a great source of info with branches across the country - google them even if just curious.

Okay, I'm a bunch of posts behind, but wanted to share this, especially after CaroylnF posted her pics (which made me drool).

This is my sourdough holiday wreath - or at least, my first one, just out of the oven. This was a test, so after we taste it, I will know better what to change.I think some seeds on top would be nice. Hopefully, I will have one good enough for our gift on Christmas eve to our dinner hosts. Also adding some truffle oil and some homemade duck and rabbit pate.

OHHH MYYY GOOOOSH!!! That is gorgeous! I want the recipe if you're willing to share it!!!! And do you have any pics of the loaf before it went into the oven (hope hope hope) Is it savory, sweet, plain? I have truffle oil but it doesn't taste much like truffles. And I picked up some brie with truffles at Trader Joe's, I hope the truffles are "present" in that. Love truffles!

I just talked to my DD and she and her boyfriend might be coming over on Christmas Eve and spending the night as well as Christmas Day. What a special treat! We talked menus and she wants my homemade bread, especially the rosemary and lavender. I wonder if I could make a wreath like yours? She also wants stew that she grew up on and I haven't made in at least 12 years. I never wrote it down so I'm hoping I can still remember how! It was done in the pressure cooker and I'm a bit foggy on the times. Wish me luck. And cheese souffle and oven babies and... and.....

I hope it works out. Better not get too excited or I'll jinx it. ===> sad momma

***********ETA Shoes are taken****************

Does anyone here have a boy that wears size 7 shoes or will soon? I bought my son shoes and they can't be returned, he doesn't like them so I would like to find someone nice to give them to :) They are brand new, size 7 boys, New Balance tennis shoes, white silver gray black. He doesn't like them because they don't tie, I didn't realize that they didn't have tie laces. Picky picky. I bought them from Zulily months ago and they don't take returns.

This might be them exactly or they are very similar at least:

The laces are elastic, they don't tie, and the top strap is velcro. Never worn out of the house.
