Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I better get off BYC...I have already found myself deep in the heart of the breeders' forums drooling over Scots Dumpy...........oh I never have enough coops !

Quilt is going great...I have about 8 blocks to go.
Was waiting on Jo-anne.com shipment of pastelly-orange fabrics which I see just arrived.so...............
Off to finish the quilt top I go.
I am not sure I want to attempt the "Divide

Hey, the barnhouse is looking great!

My big crafty accomplishment this year is that I've finished and delivered four stitch-marker/ stitchholder sets, with another just needing set on splitrings and mailed out and two in intermediate stages.

I loved those green ones you made. How much do you sell your sets of stitch markers for? I'd like a set!

I haven't sold any yet- so far these have been paying off life-debts of one sort or another. On Etsy four of them on a card, not a stitch-holder, start at $18, which I think is shockingly high. Maybe $25 for a dozen markers and a stitch-holder?

Beautiful ! I just bought some galanthus bulbs for my Mom 4 Christmas...better get them planted !
My Saffron Crocus is doing great, odd plats & no blooms so far.
How is everyone ?????????????????

Master Bedroom again...and the little Gambrel Trusses leaning against the wall are for the dormer...cute, huh ?
I mentioned to Einstein that we will have to make a dog house (like the dormer truss) to match this barn home, and he just GLARED AT ME !!!! LOL !!!

We could re-do all the coops to match too !!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Robin good to see ya!
Do you grow saffron crocus successfully? I really want some. DH bought me some bulbs a few years ago but I'm sure it was the wrong season. They came up in the wrong season... didn't bloom... and died. Never to be seen again. I'd REALLY like to try again -- successfully. Suggestions?

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the gambrel dog house and coop idea!!!!!

So true! My mom had neighbors with goats, and the goats would regularly hop the fence, trot up to my mom's place, then jump on her Harley and all over the hood of her car. Drove her absolutely nuts until butchering time. They are cute little bugger though

When I was about 13, we got 1 young pygmy wether (stupid to get only one, I know). My dog, who I think was some sort of Pyr mix, LOVED him!!! She would sleep in the huge dog house with him. When she disappeared, Gus was super lonely. He would jump on the dog house and over the fence just to come to the front door and pound on it til we came out! I used to walk him on a leash. I loved that little thing, but we came to terms with the fact that he needed to be part of a herd. I'm still excited about getting some, hopefully soon, even though they are boogers!
Oh, so cute. Envy big time. Looks like she might have some Australian Cattle Dog in her. I am sorry though, I believe in the top dog principle. I was always head b*tch in my pack. I agree with the dog whisperer on this. They are just like any other animal that live in a group including chickens and humans. Someone is ultimate boss and knows it and will enforce it. It better be you. I have gone to friends homes who have little dogs that don't do what they say. What annoying, untrained creatures. Within minutes of being around me they are acting different. The corrective sound and touch work wonders and the attitude that I am head whatever.

Love your chickens, they look so much like mine. The beard on that one is so cute.
I'm the same way. I could not picture my Shep/Aussie mix with a timid owner. She would LOVE to be boss! Such a bratimous!! My cocker, on the other hand, is very sensative and a cross word makes her pout for awhile!!!
Just make sure you go to a real trainer, not Petsmart. I watched a few of their lessons. So very not worth the money. I knew more about training dogs in grade school than the teenagers they had teaching that class knew.

Have to agree. It is usually hit and miss there.

I am all for positive reinforcement as long as they know YOU are pack leader.

Quote: Both DH and my DS have pretty much refused to butcher a bunny again. They have done it, but it is a lot harder than a meat bird. I don't care for the actual kill part, but it is nice to know that I can if I have to do it.

Hmm, that's odd. When I was in college I went hunting with a friend and bagged a rabbit (in addition to my deer). I remember it being really easy to clean, especially the skinning part. I ended up making stew, but in hindsight I should have fried it. I love fried rabbit!

I really hope I have my act together by the spring so I can try a few meat birds.

How very odd; himself much prefers to butcher and clean bunnies over birds! Says he doesn't have to bother heating the big tank since he just peels the skin off, and says they are easier to clean. Preferences I guess.

Been off for a couple of days - got that nasty "BUG" that's been going round. Luckily, unlike many of you that have suppressed immune systems, mine is very much overactive and attacks anything coming its way. So, afternoon before yesterday was feeling a bit achy, then yesterday morning I was hit with a cough, sore throat fever etc., went up to 102.1 and then dropped to 101.5 by bedtime. This morning it's normal again although I do have a raspy voice, sore throat and some congestion.

I feel very lucky, last time I had flu was 30 years ago (and never had a flu shot in my life). Hope everyone is past their bugs and doing well again.

It's very cold here but gorgeously sunny. I may venture out with the dog for a romp!
